MAXstyrka Radio gästas den här gången av Sveriges starkaste man himself, nämligen Fredrik Johansson! Fredrik har genom åren haft en minst sagt krokig väg till sin titel där skador och sjukdomar har satt käppar i hjulet för honom vid så gott som varje SSM-final, men trägen vinner och det här året visade han att han verkligen är landets starkaste man.

Vi går igenom hans samtliga finaler, pratar om årets finalgrenar och internationella tävlingar och vi diskuterar markdräktens vara eller inte vara. Mycket nöje!

På lördag, den 5 november, hålls finalen av Sveriges Starkaste Man 2022 i Växjö under Kraftkamps regi. För att ge atleterna lite extra pepp inför tävlingen har vi ringt upp proffspepparen John Andreas, även känd som Gentlemen´s Coach. Han bjuder på pepp på sitt patenterade sätt inför varje gren.

Andreas och Trywall har båda två under de senaste veckorna kämpat mot- och överlevt Covid-19. I veckans avsnitt diskuteras det allt från fighten mellan Hafthor och Eddie, årets tävlingar i Sveriges Starkaste Man, Sveriges Råaste och det som har hänt i strongmangruppen på Facebook. The Aussie share market is eyeing a red start with a fall of almost 1% at the open.

U.S. equities fell lower overnight as lawmakers struggled to progress a new stimulus deal, despite the Fed Reserve calling upon fiscal help to support the U.S. economy.

What to watch today:

• With the rise of the U.S. dollar, keep an eye on the ETF USD and companies that could benefit from the fall of the Aussie dollar including ResMed (ASX:RMD), CSL (ASX:CSL) and James Hardie (ASX:JHX).

Local trading ideas:

• Service Steam (ASX:SSM) was upgraded by Bell Potter as a buy with a $2.30 price target after NBN Co. announced $4.5b of new network investments, which will see additional fibre laid out for connections, upgrades to business networks and large-scale investments across regional areas which will provide tailwind for SSM.
• Agri chemical company Nufarm (ASX:NUF), was upgraded by UBS as a buy with a new $5.25 price target.
• Harvey Norman (ASX:HVN), Domino’s Pizza (ASX:DMP) and Reece (ASX:REH) are giving off strong bullish charting signals according to Trading Central.

It seems obvious that there are certain traditions which work to improve the survival of the culture in which they exist. It seems equally obvious that some traditions are pointless. How do we tell the difference? As it turns out it may be harder and take longer than you think. Also reason might help you less than you think. In this episode I consider four factors which might be helpful:

1. The duration of the tradition. How long has it been around?
2. The strength of enforcement for the tradition. How severe are the penalties for going against it?
3. The frequency of the tradition among the various cultures. How widespread is it? Is it present in many different cultures?
4. The domain of the tradition. Is the tradition related to something which could impact survival or reproduction?

Last week I compared life to a video game. A video game where the number of players continues to increase, meaning that our collective knowledge of how best to play the game should also be increasing, except that at the same time the version of game we’re playing is also changing. As an aside I also mentioned that it’s becoming harder to know if we’re winning. This week I’d like to take that thought and expand upon it. What does it mean to be winning the video game? Or, to go a step further why are we even playing the game?
