    #328: Free Base (@RichVos)

Rich Vos and I sat in my backyard and talked about his days as a drug addict. Man, I love talking to addicts about their old days. He got DOWN! Tons of good stories. He's been sober for a while now so he really comes at it almost like he's observing another person that he knows really well. It's a fun talk.

Rich Vos has a roast out that's available right now at VosRoast.com. I was at this roast. It was awesome. Norton, Quinn, Oakerson, Bonnie, Judy Gold, Florentine, even Luis J. Pick it up at VosRoast.com

    My next road dates are:

    San Fran June 21-23

    LA (storyteller show) July 11

Montreal (standup and storytellers) July 26-29

    #177 Doug Stanhope swapcast

    #177 Doug Stanhope swapcast

Frank & Richard travel to Bisbee, Arizona to the home of comedian Doug Stanhope for a swapcast with his show.  Doug's crew joins the party, & drunken hilarity ensues (but just on the part of the Stanhope crew though...The champ is in training). A wide range of topics are discussed, including everyone's mutual competition in the celebrity death pool that Stanhope runs.  This is an episode for the ages...Not to be missed.

What's So Funny? with guest Mayce Galoni

What's So Funny? with guest Mayce Galoni

Mayce Galoni remembered his date with What's So Funny? this time around. Maybe he just wanted to wait so he was the first guest of 2018. The young standup talks about his even younger self starting out as a barroom magician, relates some words of wisdom he was told by his comedy hero Doug Stanhope, and I tell him about sleeping in a convent in his hometown of Hamilton.

The Golden Girls Ep 156 The Case of the Libertine Belle with Brett Erickson

The Golden Girls Ep 156 The Case of the Libertine Belle with Brett Erickson

We had the wonderful Brett Erickson (@iBrettmypants, The Unbookables, The Doug Stanhope Podcast) on the Golden Girls podcast! AND. IT. WAS. AWESOME! It was Golden Girls meets Murder She Wrote: We watched the one where the Golden Girls attend a murder mystery night for Blanche's work and there turns out to be a real murder... And Blanche is the main suspect! Also, Sophia steals a bunch of silverware. We talked about prostitution motels, orgasming with a dildo in your butt and kinky knife play. Music by Mike Dennison (@mikd33) and Brian Kokernak (@kokernutz).

The Golden Girls Ep 153 Never Yell Fire in a Crowded Retirement Home Part 2 with Anthony Desamito and Genevieve Rice

The Golden Girls Ep 153 Never Yell Fire in a Crowded Retirement Home Part 2 with Anthony Desamito and Genevieve Rice

We had NO GUEST! It's just Anthony Desamito (@AnthonyDesamito, FOX's Laughs, The Doug Stanhope Podcast) and Genevieve Rice (@genevieverice, The Dana Gould Hour, Bird City Comedy Festival founder) on the GG Podcast! Huzzah! We watched the second part of what turned out to be a flashback-isode, our FAVORITE kind. It's the conclusion of the one where Sophia is arrested for setting her old retirement home on fire. Uh-oh. We talked about dogs being stuck together, the movie Loverboy and why Shady Pines is called "Shady." Music by Mike Dennison (@mikd33) and Brian Kokernak (@kokernutz).

Drugs, comedy and the madness of PC - Grouchy Club Podcast 87

Drugs, comedy and the madness of PC - Grouchy Club Podcast 87
Guest Chris Dangerfield and Kate Copstick attack social justice and political correctness and the Third Wave of Feminism. Plus the success of Andrew Lawrence, Richard Gadd and Doug Stanhope… Being a student with lots of sex, drugs and money. Plus is liking Robin Williams and Bob Monkhouse un-cool? The lottery of getting on television, the downsides of having an agent and how alternative comedy descended to the mainstream.

Dangerfield on the Edinburgh Fringe: “I was terrified. I’d been in the Sun with this show. I’d got the whores to sponsor it. I’d built it up. But I didn’t have a show…”

Dangerfield on political correctness: “Freedom of speech is over, because hate speech has been invented and hate speech is just the end of free speech because anything can be classed as hate speech if you nominate it.”

Dangerfield on drugs: “I’ve done a lot of drugs in my time and I like a lot of drugs - they’re interesting, they’re exciting. If you don’t abuse them, I think they can add to your life… But, if you like heroin, there’s no drug effect. There’s no narcotic effect. It will just sedate you. And, if you like that, there’s something wrong, because life’s not about sedation; life’s about engagement and connection. Heroin is the opposite of both of them. If you like that, I would suggest you need help.”

AND Dangerfield on uploading four YouTube videos every day and writing a novel.

Diane Spencer + Edinburgh Fringe tips - Grouchy Club Podcast 72

Diane Spencer + Edinburgh Fringe tips - Grouchy Club Podcast 72
The rise of YouTube videos. Critic Kate Copstick & blogger John Fleming are joined by comedian Diane Spencer. Do comedians HAVE to play the Edinburgh Fringe or even play the London circuit? Getting fined £20,000 for bad taste jokes.

Plus Lewis Schaffer’s dirty protest poster; the joys of morphine; the new FirstMinute Awards at the Edinburgh Fringe; how to start a 55-minute comedy show; the liars of Facebook and are small audiences better than talking into a mirror?

Copstick’s quote of the week: “It’s hard to follow a really good, graphic wank joke”
