Vic Mignogna Talks Star Trek and When the Train Stops.

In 2013, Vic Mignogna audaciously took the center seat aboard the USS Enterprise and assumed the role of Captain James T. Kirk Star Trek Continues. His performance quickly gained him the respect and admiration of millions of Star Trek fans around the globe—and possibly beyond! Vic continues to have a wide and varied career—on and off the big screen—as an actor, a professional voiceover artist, and a musician and composer.

In this episode of Continuing Mission, host Tony Robinson and guest Zach Moore of Standard Orbit are joined by Vic as he vacates the captain’s chair to look back at his time aboard the Enterprise. He also brings us up to speed on his latest adventure—the fan-funded mystery film When The Train Stops.

    Still Treads the Shadow

    Still Treads the Shadow

It has been too long since the cast and crew of Star Trek Continues released Episode 7, so we have been waiting as patiently as possible for the latest adventure from our friends at STC.

As Nero would say, "The wait is over!" and we are thrilled that Episode 8 of this highly acclaimed fan production is now available.  Released to fans over the weekend of April  1st, "Still Treads the Shadow" continues the story first told in the TOS episode "The Tholian Web."

While investigating an event horizon in an uninhabited system, the crew of the Enterprise are shocked to come across the U.S.S Defiant, thought to be lost in interspace over a year ago!  The surprises don't stop there when it is revealed that the Defiant has a single passenger on board, and the condition and identity of that someone is what the crew least expected!  We think you will agree that STC has once again given us an amazing episode filled with drama and awesome guest stars!

Plus, as a special bonus we are joined by The Captain himself, Vic Mignogna (in a record 4th appearance on Trek Geeks), to discuss this amazing story and the INCREDIBLE performance he gives in this episode.

It's all in Episode 99 of "Your Independent Star Trek Podcast" and we hope you'll join us!

Now, safely back on earth, the Regular Joes recount their adventures and throw in the usual sampling of Random Topics and What's in The Box. Thanks for listening!

    Chuck Huber

    Chuck Huber

What better way to follow up our special coverage of "The White Iris," than to sit down with one of the principal cast members from Star Trek Continues? We're talking about the Chief Medical Officer of the Starship Enterprise--Dr. McCoy himself, the one and only Chuck Huber!

Dan and Bill talk to Chuck about conventions and fans, keeping things light on the set, "The White Iris," and what he might like to see for McCoy in future episodes of Star Trek Continues!

Star Trek Continues Funding Campaign Final Days.

The fan-based, non-profit production Star Trek Continues is in the final days of its Kirkstarter 2.0, a campaign to fund at least two additional episodes of the series. The original goal of the campaign, which ends February 16, was to raise $100,000 to fund all aspects of their fifth and sixth episodes. Since they’ve already reached that goal there are ambitious stretch goals to build an Engineering set, a Planet Set, and to fund the creation of up to seven additional episodes.

    14: A Star Trek Obsession

Obsessed: Star Trek Continues and the Mirror Universe.

Star Trek Continues recently released their third episode "Fairest of Them All," which is a direct follow-up to the Original Series episode "Mirror, Mirror." It tells the story of what happened when the mirror landing party returned to the ISS Enterprise. The attention to detail in set design, costumes, lighting, and even framing of shots is so meticulous that it is easy to forget that you're watching something shot in 2014, not 1967.

While the onscreen story is intriguing, what is equally fascinating is everything that happened offscreen to make "Fairest of Them All" possible. As fans watching from home, it isn't easy to get a feel for what goes into making an episode like this. But thanks to Condé Nast Entertainment and WIRED, now you can.

Obsessed: Star Trek Continues is a five-part behind-the-scenes look at our return to the Mirror Universe. In this episode of Continuing Mission we're by Captain Kirk himself, Vic Mignogna, along with director James Kerwin and, from Condé Nast, Michael Prenez-Isbell for a first-hand account of the documentary project, the creation of the Mirror Universe story, impressions of the set, and why Star Trek is an obsession for the cast and crew of STC.

Star Trek Continues with Larry Nemecek.

No one seems content with the 80 episodes of The Original Series that we ended up with. Everyone wants more, even if they have to make it themselves. In this episode of Standard Orbit, Mike and Drew are joined by Larry Nemecek to talk about Star Trek Continues and Larry's part in it. Find out more about how this continuation of TOS is being made, and even a bit about other fan projects you might never have heard of.

    Star Trek Continues.

As any Star Trek fans knows, the original mission of the Enterprise 1701 was to span five years. Unfortunately, the television executives of the 1960s had other plans as Kirk and his crew sailed off into the darkness after just three seasons. But that doesn't mean the mission didn't continue. What happened after "Turnabout Intruder"? The independent series Star Trek Continues picks up where TOS left off, continuing the five-year mission by telling the stories we didn't see.

In this episode of The Ready Room we're joined by some of the cast and crew of Star Trek Continues to talk about the creation of the series, the first two episodes—"Pilgrim of Eternity" and "Lolani"—and what their plans are for the future. Director Chris White and assistant director Chuck Huber fill us in on the production side while Larry Nemecek (Dr. McCoy) and Todd Haberkorn (Spock) talk about bringing iconic characters to the screen once again. Plus, a surprising number of characters from a galaxy far, far away drop by for a visit.

In our news segment we remember prolific Star Trek director Cliff Bole, find out how Robert Beltran is warming up to Star Trek fans on Twitter and Reddit, run down the Saturn Award nominations for Star Trek Into Darkness, and find out what Larry Nemecek has planned for his invasion of Jacksonville, Florida.
