Game of Thrones Creators No Longer Attached to Oversee Trilogy

Weiss will no longer write or produce a trilogy of âStar Warsâ movies, Variety has confirmed. The pair attributed the departure to their upcoming Netflix projects. âWe love Star Wars. When George Lucas built it, he built us too,â they said in a statement. âGetting to talk about Star Wars with him and the current Star Wars team was the thrill of a lifetime, and we will always be indebted to the saga that changed everything. But there are only so many hours in the day, and we felt we could not do justice to both Star Wars and our Netflix projects. So we are regretfully stepping away.â Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy remarked, âDavid Benioff and Dan Weiss are incredible storytellers. We hope to include them in the journey forward when they are able to step away from their busy schedule to focus on Star Wars.â

Ewan McGregor Says Years of Lying About Reprising âStar Warsâ Role Was âEmbarrassingâ

Would you do it again, would you do it again?â And Iâm already talking to them about it, but I canât say that I am. So like for four years I was saying, âWell, Iâd be happy to do it again if they â Iâm just waiting for the callâ ⦠It was embarrassing.â
McGregor earlier said that the original plan was for a standard movie, but now the Kenobi series will be 6, 1 hour episodes.
