Switch OLED, Steam Deck, and Activision Blizzard's Moral Reckoning

Switch OLED, Steam Deck, and Activision Blizzard's Moral Reckoning

CONTENT WARNING: During the first part of this episode, the discussion references harassment, suicide, and sexual abuse. If you would like to avoid these topics, please skip to at least 20:48.

At the risk of getting a bit too real, Zak and Aaron ran into an issue while preparing/recording this episode.

On one hand, we wanted to speak about the recent news regarding Activision Blizzard, which is both deeply troubling and infuriatingly unsurprising (making it all the more troubling). But we also wanted to publish a podcast episode that wasn't a non-stop barrage of negativity.

So, we did our best to split the difference. The first 20 minutes or so are devoted to the allegations of widespread abuse at Activision Blizzard, while the rest is a little more lighthearted in nature.  We talk about the recently-announced Nintendo Switch OLED, the Steam Deck, and whether either one will make a big splash in the market. In the interest of levity, Aaron inserted a mediocre pirate joke into the latter part of the discussion. But, as is often the case with pirate treasure, you'll have to go on a journey of discovery in order to find it.

    Heartfelt plea

From the deepest part of our hearts, we hope that anyone listening who is dealing with abuse of any kind or grappling with suicidal thoughts knows that they are not alone. Here are a few resources you may find valuable. If you need them, use them. If you're not sure, use them to ask. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not a sign of weakness.
