Sometimes you just shouldn't let a Seagal soar. Will and Matt discuss the confusing "buddy-cop" action comedy starring one of the Wayans Brothers, Steven Seagal, and Brian Cox doing accents all in an attempt to muddle Stephen Tobolowsky's five minute masterclass of acting.

Stephen Tobolowsky on 'It's a Wonderful Life' & 'Bride of Frankenstein'

All-time great character actor Stephen Tobolowsky might be best known as Ned Ryerson from GROUNDHOG DAY, but his film and television credits number in the hundreds. His thoughtful character choices for today are appropriately iconic -- George Bailey from It's a Wonderful Life and the Monster from Bride of Frankenstein. But the real highlight of this episode are Stephen's riveting storytelling and invaluable wisdom about the hidden gifts a seeming catastrophe can bring.

Stephen Tobolowsky - From the Bible to Groundhog Day Ep. 105

On today’s episode, Ari spoke with the greatest character actor in the history of Hollywood, the legendary Stephen Tobolowsky, about his lifelong journey to understand the Hebrew Bible.

Along the way they talked about growing up around members of the Nazi Party; Stephen’s love of Shakespeare; being comfortable with weirdness; Stephen getting held at gunpoint during a hostage situation; Deuteronomy and the Shema prayer; thinking about death; why Ned Ryerson is the most Jewish character in the history of American film; and much more!

    Guest Quote
"There is such a positiveness in Judaism, that when you become a part of it, you realize how absolutely life-affirming it is. Even in death, it gets you through all the terrible transitions: from Genesis to Exodus, Leviticus to Numbers to Deuteronomy. It can get you through every one of those walls, every one of those challenges.“ - Stephen Tobolowsky

    The Country Bears

    The Country Bears
Hop on the tour bus and make sure the banjos are tuned and ready to go, loser: we got a Bear Hall to save! Take a journey with us as we survey the many sights and sounds associated with The Country Bears, Disney's 2002 roadshow revue at once ahead of its time and forever out-of-touch. Listen as we struggle to place this cornball jamboree within the larger trend of theme park cinema while simultaneously puzzling over a great many larger questions: just what sort of alternate universe is taking place that allows bears to not only speak human languages and wear clothes but also desire to play country music to capacity crowds? Why has it taken our "hero" Beary Barrington *so* long to discover he is, indeed, not a human and why does he show absolute zero interest in tracking down his literal parentage, as he instead takes solace in a group of no account, mediocre musicians (though they are, admittedly, bears)? What manner of blackmail did Walt Disney Company CEO Michael Eisner have on screen legend Christopher Walken to entice an appearance, all too briefly we might add, in this dreck? Though we in no way guarantee to provide any sort of conclusive answers to these or other questions, you have our word we do our best to meet them all head on. Groundhog Day (1993)

    Groundhog Day (1993)

"Ok, fellow snarks, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties cause it's COLD out there!"

Welcome back to another time-warping, deja vu-heavy, and consequence-free holiday episode of THE FILM SNARKS!!

Well, it's Groundhog Day... again, and that must mean it's time to take a look at the 1993 Harold Ramis-directed fantasy comedy about a selfish and cynical weatherman who learns to be selfless and caring.

As an annual winter calendar event, thousands of people wait in hot anticipation to find out just how much winter is left to deal with and if there's any hope of an early spring. Kind of like the state of the world over the last year with the pandemic, which has forced almost everyone into lockdown and quarantines with no end in sight!

And so why not take a look back at this mid-90's gem starring the immortal Bill fuckin' Murray to find out if it will be an early spring, or if Phil Connors, and the rest of the world, will be doomed to repeat the same day over and over again!!

Just don't forget to watch that first step 'cuz it's a DOOZY!!!

    S03E08: Great Balls Of Fire!

    S03E08: Great Balls Of Fire!
What can we say about this offensively misconceived slice of Jerry Lee Lewis's late-'50s life, one that casts his "relationship" (ugh) with his 13-year-old cousin (blerf) as a quirkumstance of romantical fate? Well, we can say cocaine was involved; we can wonder if the estate of Foghorn Leghorn sued Dennis Quaid's performance for copyright infringement; and we can admire Winona Ryder's performance as Myra Gale while thinking it makes the story immeasurably ickier. On a scale of one to Hasselhoff, we give DQ's effort a (NC-)17, but very little about this bowdlerization of Myra Gale's memoir works. Also, "Alec Baldwin as Jimmy Swaggart." Episode 80: Memento (2000)

    Episode 80: Memento (2000)

Prøver politimanden Teddy (Joe Pantoliano) at hjælpe ham?
