Mom Life - Zero Out 10

Mom Life - Zero Out 10

In this episode of "Boldly Untitled," Shawny and Melly Mel discuss parenting struggles, and societal pressures surrounding motherhood. They share their experiences with their children's education and the challenges they face, including dealing with ADHD and dyslexia. They also touch on Sherri Shepherd's child support situation, emphasizing the importance of discussing children before marriage.

The duo criticizes societal pressures to marry and have children and discuss the unrealistic portrayals of parenting on social media and the importance of granting oneself grace as a parent. The episode concludes with a discussion on societal pressure for children to attend college.

Here's a sneak peek inside this episode:

We delved into the stress of school applications, financial concerns, and the rollercoaster ride of motherhood. It's not always sunshine and rainbows, but it's a journey we wouldn't trade for anything.

We also touched on the importance of discussing children before marriage and the societal pressures to tie the knot and start a family. It's crucial to have these conversations early on.

From dealing with ADHD to navigating the education system for children with special needs, we shared our personal experiences and the lessons we've learned along the way.

We discussed the unrealistic expectations we often set for ourselves as parents and the importance of granting ourselves grace.

Remember, there's no such thing as a perfect parent. We explored the impact of words on mental well-being and how they can leave a lasting impression.

It's not just about what you say, but how you say it. We wrapped up by discussing the pressures of school, bullying, and the importance of being honest about the challenges of parenting. It's a tough job, but it's the most rewarding one.

The Milli and Vanilli of the Manoshpere - Preview to Episode 248
This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to announce the next film, "The Stepmother 2." We return back to the series starring Erica Mena as Elizabeth, a woman with dissociative identity disorder, who cheats death and has now a new mission, to find a new family and live happily ever after, beyond her troubled past. The random topic this week is all about the newly demonetized "Fresh and Fit" manosphere podcast. The controversial misogynistic podcast suffered a major financial blow this week on Youtube. We examine the reason why, their rise and other shows like it, their impact on young men, and why everyone needs to do better in that space.

    Quotes

“You aren’t leading if you are not using your leadership to make a more just and equitable world.”

    Takeaways

    Childhood Incidents

Growing up impoverished in a small rural town of 200 people in northern Louisiana, Rayne felt as if she was “radically under-educated.” Even though she had been among the top of her class in high school, she found it necessary to take remedial English classes at college.

She recalls going grocery shopping with her family once a month at a store in town, where each child was allowed to get one item of their choice. She began working at a very early age, which contributed to her feeling that she had to put in extra effort for anything she wanted.

    Influential Groups

Compared to Rayne’s current home, the liberal city of New Orleans, the town she grew up in feels very conservative. Rayne’s mother asked her to invite her African-American friend and her mom to their house, which was the first time any white person had done so in their town. Rayne’s father held several sexist opinions, some of which hindered Rayne in considering herself a woman leader. However, she has now come into her own leadership style.

    Temperament and Personality Influences

Rayne has always been described as authentic. She is grateful to have recently met her biological father and discovered her Ukrainian heritage, but also grateful for her stepfather, who provided her with a framework on how to parent non-biological kids. Modeling her parental style after her stepfather continues to serve Rayne in her role as a stepmother to two children herself.

    Cultural Epiphanies

Rayne’s husband recently wanted to join a yacht club, and she is uncomfortable being around people of that social class. However, she is working through her own bias against that group.

    Advice to an Employer

Rayne thrives when she’s working with leaders who want to make a difference by being brave and authentic in the fight for creating a positive impact.

    More Great Insights!

Rayne’s program, The Changemaker, is a comprehensive support system which includes personal coaching, the “4 Cs of changemaking,” and group work designed to help people be vulnerable and push through their blind spots as they work to change the world!

The Stepmother - An Italian Folktale

The Stepmother - An Italian Folktale

There was once a husband and a wife who had two children, a son and a daughter. The wife died, and the husband married a woman who had a daughter blind of one eye. The husband was a farmer, and went to work in a field. The stepmother hated her husband’s children, and to get rid of them she baked some bread, and sent it by them to her husband, but directed them to the wrong field, so that they might get lost. When the children reached a mountain they began to call their father, but no one answered. Now the girl was enchanted; and when they came to a spring and the brother wanted to drink, she said to him: “Do not drink of this fountain, or you will become an ass.”
