#023. This episode gives a short introduction to the next three episodes, which form a series around one particular area of loss - loss of a baby. We explain the order they'll be released, talk about where childlessness fits in, and look at why it might not always be helpful to brand the loss of a child as the 'worst grief'.
This is The Silent Why, a podcast on a mission to open up conversations around loss and grief and to see if hope can be found in 101 different types of loss.
Loss #17, #18 and #19 will explore loss of a baby, and what experiences at different stages can look and feel like.
In December 2021 we released Episode 10 (Loss of a young son), after which we were contacted by women who wanted to share their experience of losing a baby to help others.
And whereas we wouldn't normal focus too much on one area of a loss consecutively, we realised (again) how one type of loss can have so many different stories within it.
Is it possible to keep hold of joy when you realise your dream of being a mother is over?
Can there be joy in the hospital room after your newborn baby has died?
What happens when you manage your grief too much and squish it deep down?
What on earth is a 'smash pile'?
Find out over the next three weeks.
