    Nothing Good Happens After 3AM

    *episode recorded 3 weeks ago*
Well, long time no talk - I had a mammogram that got a little wild, a stranger got in my car after I said no, debunking rumors that I'm dating my guy friend, falling in love with a security guard, pen!s slideshow in Boston, dating red flags NOBODY talks about, and my cringey first date. Enjoy.

How Trusting Your Gut Can Literally Save Your Life with Julia Spencer

How Trusting Your Gut Can Literally Save Your Life with Julia Spencer

Today, Julia Spencer officially speaks out for the first time about a very traumatic situation that happened to her almost exactly a year ago. Julia tells us how she was able to silence the feeling she was overreacting, in order to quite literally save her life. She also shares how taking an Everyday Armor class gave her the confidence to share her story to empower other women. If there's one message from this episode, it's to trust your instincts when something feels off, just as Julia so courageously did.

    Safety at Home & Beyond

    Safety at Home & Beyond

Safety has many aspects to senior life. We always think of keeping safe at the Homefront, but keeping safe when heading out to the grocery store or taking a walk around the neighborhood are just as important and safety may be taken for granted. Dr. Tronetti and Janet Rooks hit all of these topics and many more with Darleen as they open even her eyes on everyday issues facing seniors. The upside is that Dr. Tronetti and Janet share some easy solutions and resources to help seniors stay safe in all aspects of their lives.

    Why You Should Trust Strangers

    Why You Should Trust Strangers

With the world we live in today, the thought of making friends by socializing and reaching out to strangers does get pretty intimidating and challenging especially for introverts. Hence, the slackers share their relatable experiences about how they struggled building friendships in the past, to help conclude the best ways one can make friends today. With Thomas and Earl being more introverted, it wasn't always a walk in the park when it came to socializing with and befriending stranger. Although, being able to relate with those with similar interests and hobbies did indeed help Thomas and Earl get more comfortable interacting with them.
Ron, on the other hand, being more of an extrovert, talks about the modern day art of friend-making, that we have access to through our phones. He takes Earl and Thomas through an EYE-OPENING analogy that showcases how socializing really has evolved over time, with the help of social media apps.

Despite everything, it definitely still isn't easy to socialize and make friends today, especially due to natural trust issues and social awkwardness. Fortunately, the slackers are always open to conversations and will always guarantee a good time.

Kelsey Brewer - PODCAST WITH A STRANGER?

Did I really do a podcast with a stranger? Well yes, sorta kinda. We really didn't know each other coming into this, and I think it made for a great episode. We are both students and talked quite a bit about that, but this episode has some real M. Night Shyamalan twists.

Panic! In America (w/ the You're Wrong About podcast)

Panic! In America (w/ the You're Wrong About podcast)

Matt and Sam are joined by special guests Sarah Marshall and Michael Hobbes of the You're Wrong About podcast to discuss moral panics—from tales of rampant Satanism in the late 1970s to the Stranger Danger wave in the 1980s and beyond—and their role in the rise of rightwing politics in America. What do such "Save the Children" stories tell us about the way the conservative mind conceives of morality and power? What do they tell us about American culture and politics? It all builds to a discussion of QAnon and both the promise and problems with empathy.

Omegle Chat Website: How Students Meet Strangers (SmartSocial.com Guide for Parents and Educators)

SmartSocial.com's Omegle Guide for Parents and Educators: https://smartsocial.com/omegle/

    What is Omegle chat?

    Omegle Homepage
    • Users go to Omegle.com to instantly start a text or video chat with strangers
    • Visitors can use keywords to find people with shared interests
    • College students can enter a .edu email address (which the site uses for verification) to find other students
    • There is also an “adult” section
    • The website is free to use and is available in multiple languages
    • A graphic on top of the website shows how many other users are online at any (it’s often 40,000+)

    Where is Omegle available?

    • Omele.com is available on any web browser
    • The website shows users how to easily use add Omegle to the home screen of their phones to make it mobile-friendly
    • Omegle’s Privacy Policy
    • There are several apps, include Omega in Google Play and OKAY in the iOS App Store, that have similar logos and offer the same random chat features

Why should parents care about Omegle?

    • Age verification is not required to use Omegle
      • The website says all users must over 13
      • It also says anyone under 18 should ask for parental permission
    • Strangers can easily ask for personal information, share explicit messages, or appear on screen nude
    • Strangers often send usernames to connect on other apps, like Snapchat, Kik, and Discord
    • Although your student might feel like their chat is private, anyone can record their screen or take a screenshot
    • Omegle.com offers “moderated” chats, but says “Moderation is not perfect. You may still encounter people who misbehave. They are solely responsible for their own behavior.”

    What can parents do?

    • It’s important to not only tell your children not to visit sites like Omegle, but also to explain WHY
    • You can use settings or a parental monitoring app to block Omegle.com, but kids can often find ways around that (For example, visiting banned websites at a friend’s house)
    • Teach your kids to never share personal information with strangers online
    • Remind them about the dangers of meeting up with someone from the internet in real life
    • Tell them they can always come to you (or a trusted adult) if they ever feel uncomfortable about something that happened online
