Perhaps another name for this series could be “The Truths Every Christian Should Believe and How They Change Us”. There are certain core beliefs that are so vital to the Christian faith that without them you cease to be a Christian. This series is meant to help us discern which doctrines are non-negotiable (closed-hand) and which ones leave room for conversations and questions (open-hand). Today we continue our look at the role the Holy Spirit plays in our spiritual growth (sanctification).

STRANGER THAN FICTION – Part 5: Dagon, the Lost Ark, and the Presence of God // Pastor Christian Bonham

The Bible is full of beautiful, descriptive, rich, and wonderful truths! It also has some rather… odd… stories than by themselves leave readers with more questions than answers. Passages which on the surface standout as being weird, funny, confusing, or all of the above. This series dives into some of those unique stories to help us mine for the Truth within the curious.

Today we look at the story of Israel and the Philistines, the Philistine god Dagon, and how God’s presence brings two nations to their knees.

    Text: 1 Samuel 5:1-6, 1 Samuel 4-6, Exodus 33

‘That Sense of Magic’ (Dirty Craft)

How are writers portrayed in fiction? The Word Docs (or, as they’re inexplicably calling themselves, the Warlock, the Wizard and the Witch) are investigating the magic of storytelling as depicted in popular culture. From Fforde to Ginsberg, and Ginsberg to King, there is a tradition of romanticising authors and their work. Amy is into it... Sean really, really isn’t. Based on True Events (Terror in Texarkana)

Based on True Events (Terror in Texarkana)

Truth is often stranger than fiction. Maybe that's why so many of your favorite scary movies were inspired by actual events. From 'The Birds' to 'Scream', every great idea comes from somewhere.

Find out about some of Curator 135's favorite horror films based on actual events and dive into one in particular. "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" is based on an actual series of murders carried out by a masked individual in the early months of 1946. Texarkana, Texas would never be the same again.

I was joined by sax player and composer Jon Gordon for the latest episode of Harmonious World.

Jon's latest album is Stranger Than Fiction - a fabulous collection of tracks that reflect something of Gordon's response to the crises facing us in the world around us. This conversation was a joy and I hope you enjoy listening in.

Thanks to Jon for allowing me to play extracts from Stranger Than Fiction alongside our conversation.

Don't forget the Quincy Jones quote that sums up why I do this: "Imagine what a harmonious world it would be if every single person, both young and old, shared a little of what he is good at doing."

Also contains reflections on working for The Man, and a bit of politics.
