Self-Love Simplified: Healthy Boundaries and Inner Healing

Self-Love Simplified: Healthy Boundaries and Inner Healing

Whether you're making strides in your self-love journey or it sounds like more of that self-help mumbo jumbo, this episode is a heart-to-heart, inviting you to stand confidently in your bold, beautiful, perfectly imperfect self with confidence. Let’s shatter the myth that putting ourselves first is selfish, because in fact practicing self-love is the key not only to our happiness but also to how we show up for others in our world.

If perfectionist tendencies are holding you back from seeing your worth, it’s time to break free. We'll explore acceptance, kindness, and embracing your progress without relentless judgment. Because forgiving ourselves is where healing and self-love truly begin. Discover what healthy boundaries have to do with loving yourself, how to identify and fulfill your emotional needs, and ways to rise above the barriers that block you from loving yourself fully. By understanding our innate negativity bias, we can utilize neuroplasticity to rewire our brains, allowing us to celebrate growth and overcome adversity.

And if you're feeling stuck in the self-love department, this is one place where you can “fake it till you make it”! It just may be that pretending to love yourself a little more can be the very practice that leads to genuine self-care and true emotional well-being.

Instead of throwing general stress relievers at you, we dive deeper into the root of stress and how to heal it depending on the individual self. Here are Ellen's three steps to discovering the root of your stress:

    1. Be specific as to what is stressing you out in particular

    Summary

Regina Lawrence is a self proclaimed noble struggler who had built her identity around her seven-year career as an attorney.

She wore her busyness, hard work, drive for success, and her stress as a badge of honor until she had nothing left for herself and was burned out.

Join Dr. E as he welcomes Regina to talk about managing stress and anxiety.

    Actionable Steps

    1. When you are suffering from a lot of stress and anxiety, make sure to create space for quiet time. Every day for at least 10 minutes - you can meditate, sit in silence, go for a walk, go to the gym, or sit for a cup of coffee.
    2. Examine and take note of when and where you start to feel stressed and anxious? Identify what triggers this? Is there a pattern? When you can identify when and where stress and anxiety are coming into your life, you can study your behaviors and try to understand who you are and where this is happening in your life.
    3. Once you've identified the patterns, identify when in your life you started to feel stressed and anxious in those types of moments.  If we can recognize our reactions as learned behaviors from long ago, we can reframe our response.
