Navigate Conflicts With Wisdom and Biblical Backing πŸ“–

If your brother speaks against you or offends you in any way, you can still mend the relationship. In a world that thrives on strife, we prophets must know how to bring peace and save godly alignments. Here’s how you do it step by step.

A Message From Your Spiritual Parents:

"You should have conflicts with your peers because God is aligning you with people who aren’t exactly like you. It’s uncomfortable, but can you be uncomfortable for a little while? Because when you are, it expands your perspective of the kingdom." - Apostles Craig and Colette Toach

    Scriptures Referenced in This Episode:

    Matthew 18:15–17 (NKJV):
Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother. But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that β€˜by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. And if he refuses to hear them, tell it to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.

EPISODE 306 PERILOUS TIMES IN THESE LAST DAYS? ARE WE IN THOSE DAYS? ARE ALL THINGS GOOD CLEAN AND RIGHT BEFORE GOD? WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO GOD?

In 'EPISODE 306 PERILOUS TIMES IN THESE LAST DAYS? ARE WE IN THOSE DAYS? ARE ALL THINGS GOOD CLEAN AND RIGHT BEFORE GOD? WHAT IS RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT IS ACCEPTABLE TO GOD?' author, speaker and host Elbert Hardy illustrates the times we are in today and proves it from the Holy Bible. He cautions Christians to be careful to avoid being deceived by false prophets and the prophecies they 'foretell', so, if it isn't in the Word of God, it is not a real prophecy.

Ep. 179: Shutdown w/ Mark Scondotto

Ep. 179: Shutdown w/ Mark Scondotto

New York hardcore took a positive turn in December, 1994, when Shutdown emerged on the scene as one of few bands ready to take their music and message to the next level. With an emphasis on old-school values and new school musical sensibility, Shutdown were poised to take over where bands like Warzone, Cro-Mags and Gorilla Biscuits left off. With older members of the NYHC crowd supporting these "kids", success has been a natural transition.Β

They have played some of the biggest shows in past hardcore history, including one of the two tributes to Raybeez (Warzone) at CBGB's in the fall of 1997. Raybeez himself actually went as far as to state that Shutdown is "the future of hardcore".Β

Shutdown stopped playing full-time shortly after finishing a quick stint on Warped Tour in 2001. In 2006, Black & Blue invited Shutdown to play the NYC Superbowl of Hardcore which stands as the biggest hardcore show in NYC every year. In 2010, Shutdown announced its rebirth back to playing and doing random shows a few times per year.Β

I state in the interview that Monkey helped me find the band but it was actually Brian Schatzel who helped connect me. So thank you Brian and I apologize for always saying Monkey introduced me to everyone even though he was done it a lot.

I got Mark on the Skype and this is what we chat about:

    • His thoughts on the current hardcore scene
    • Andy from Kill Your Idols
    • His brothers introducing him to hardcore
    • Rick 2 Life
    • The home promo video he sent Tony from Victory
    • Signing with VictoryΒ
    • California Takeover
    • Why The band suddenly stopped
    • Bands not liking them
    • Working on a new record
    • The Harley story
    • And a ton more

Before we start, if you're company has a hard time explaining what it does you can hire me to do that in 60-90 seconds with an explainer animation. Go to drive80.com or email me at mike@drive80.com to learn more.

Strife formed in 1991 signing on with Caroline Records, who issued their debut album, One Truth, in 1994, before signing on with one of the country’s leading hardcore labels, Victory. In 97 they issued In This Defiance, a recording on which the band attempted to broaden their sound, as it featured guest spots from members of such acclaimed non-hardcore acts as Fear Factory, Sepultura, and the Deftones.Β

But just when it seemed things were going good for the band, Strife announced their disbandment in early 1998. Sporadic reunion concerts followed (as well as a collection of odds and ends, 1999’s Truth Through Defiance, and almost exactly two years later, Strife decided to reform. In 2001, Strife issued their third studio album, Angermeans, which was followed up by their first major tour in nearly four years.

I’m sure many of you bought The OG California Takeover back in the day. I did as well. But did you know there’s a new The Return Of The California Takeover that was put out on Andrew’s label War Records in 2021? You should go check that out.Β

I first heard about these guys on the Cinema Beer Nuts comp which I’ve talked about on numerous episodes and their video blew my fucking mind. I immediately went out and got In This Defiance and loved that CD.Β

Luckily, Andrew runs the IG account so I sent them a message, got him on the Skype and this is what we chat about.

    • The new California Takeover Release
    • What’s the new crowd like compared to the old
    • Backlash from the One Truth DVD
    • Sepultura having an influence on In This Defiance
    • The video for Blistered
    • The change in sound
    • Angermeans
    • And a ton more

    PHILIPPIANS (17): Overcoming Strife and Anxiety (3:20 - 4:9)

    PHILIPPIANS (17): Overcoming Strife and Anxiety (3:20 - 4:9)
After describing the wonderful transformation that we will receive at the resurrection of our bodies, Paul addresses a problem of strife in the Philippian Church, a personality clash between 2 strong women, giving us an example of how to deal with such conflicts, by calling each one to have the attitude of Christ toward the other, and thereby come into harmony with each other, for the sake of Christ and His Gospel. By reminding them of the supreme importance of the propagation of the Gospel and being written in the Book of Life, Paul helps them to humble themselves and put their petty squabbling aside for the sake of what is truly important - the salvation of souls. Then Paul gives 3 keys to a vibrant spiritual life of joy and peace: (1) rejoicing in the Lord (v4), (2) praying about things with thanksgiving, instead of worrying about them (v5-7), and (3) meditating in God's Word (v8-9). Anxiety comes from pride, when we try and handle everything in our own strength. But if we will humble ourselves before God and submit ourselves and our problems to Him in prayer, then we will be able to receive His abundant grace for the situation (1Peter 5:5-7, James 4:6), which includes the Peace of God, which will fill and relax our souls, and also protect them from anxiety and negative thoughts. As we commit all things to God in prayer and meditate on His Word, then the Peace of God and the God of Peace will be with us.

Episode 43: When the Unthinkable Has Happened, Choice #2

Episode 43: When the Unthinkable Has Happened, Choice #2

The war in Ukraine continues, and our newsfeeds are full of terrible images of suffering people. It's heartbreaking to watch and feel so powerless to help.

These are awful, uncomfortable emotions, and of course we want to avoid them. I'd like to suggest we acknowledge them instead.Β

In this episode, I share how acknowledging our emotions, allowing ourselves to sit with them, can help us to avoid "buffering" behavior that won't help the problem and will only make us feel worse later.

    Highlights:

    • How global events are affecting us.
    • What are numbing or buffering behaviors?
    • How can we avoid the shame, guilt, and regret of buffering behaviors?
    • How and why do you "hold space" for your feelings?
    • What is the "eventhough" tool?
    • Other episodes that can help with this emotional work.

This is a truly scary and difficult time, but feelings of overwhelm and panic help no one. Learn the skills to resist emotional overload.

    Breathing easier, financially

    Breathing easier, financially

When we are without hope, we are without future.Does that sound like God’s plan for your life?

The number one argument in marriage/relationship is about money. Does this resonate with you?

The Bible talks about money in regards to the love of it and how we are to steward it. But what I think ends up being the demise of so many families is there is no plan or agreement about how it is to be spent. Money, how it's spent and not spent shouldn’t be ambiguous. It should be clear and there should be a plan.Β

When we Dream BIG, we open up space for God to be glorified. Are you limiting what God can do?Β
