    David talks through his transition from education to employment and how he developed a foundation of tuition work, allowing him to focus his career entirely on music. He also discussed the need to understand the breadth of the industry and the benefits of cross-pollinating whilst networking, introducing your contacts to one another can be just as fruitful as finding new contacts. 

    Key advice for songwriters, don't pigeonhole yourself within your writing and neglect the other aspects of your work. As a writer, don't shy away from production - key to your success will be adding more strings to your bow, look to diversify and not label yourself.

    Jonathan's key advice for those finishing their studies is to 'network with everyone' - you don't know who may be able to help you in the future. Take advantage of all of the opportunities available to you at ICMP - events, gigs, socials, 1:2:1s, etc - they all present opportunities for you to expand your network. But... don't forget to have fun throughout!

    Also discussed is the importance of learning new skills outside of music and having a Plan B. Focus on skills that will also support your music and art, but may also open doors. This is exactly how he ended up in his current role at Facebook.
