    Rest Stop #5

    Rest Stop #5

Time for another Rest Stop. And we're back in Hohenwald! What are the chances? This rest stop is a little different than previous episodes. In this rest stop, I'm sharing (for the first time publicly) about my struggles recovering from a major spinal fusion, why I believe it doesn't take a professional dancer to make it in this industry, and why pole dance is so important to me. Find out more about the work I do and how I've made it to this point.

This episode was a bit hard to record as its something I don't easily talk about but I hope someone out there gets something from it. If so, then it was all worth it. Thanks for listening!

Erik Samuelson is the owner of Three Crown Studio, LLC in Brooklyn, New York. Three Crown Studio is a full service music production studio that specializes in helping artists create and record their music and develop their careers.

Erik grew up in the Midwest in a musically-inclined family. His mother was a singer in Stockholm, his father a Saxophone player and mechanical engineer, and one of his sisters is now a music teacher. From a young age, Erik was interested in music, jazz, engineering, and mechanics. Like his father, he also took up the saxophone and played in a variety of Jazz, Rock, Reggae, and Jam bands throughout his high school and college years. After winning the Cleveland High School Rock-Off, his band had the opportunity to record an album at Metro Sync Studios in Cleveland. As this was the first time he had stepped into a recording studio, it was an incredibly defining moment that offered perspective into an alternate way of making music, and he found it fascinating.

In 2006 he attended Ohio University for Music Production. He had the honor to study under Eddie Ashworth, a reputable west coast audio engineer that worked on albums for bands like Sublime and Pennywise. During his time at college, he ran a studio out of his home and began recording local and touring bands.

After graduating in 2010 with a BA in Media Arts & Sciences, he married his high-school sweetheart, and moved to New York City. He started working at Guitar Center just to pay the rent, but it evolved into a temporary career as he quickly worked his way up the ranks from sales clerk to General Manager of the Brooklyn GC store, one of the largest in the country. Over time he had the opportunity to meet and work with thousands of musicians, engineers, and industry professionals, creating a unique network of like-minded people.

In 2017, he left GC to pursue his passion, and founded Three Crown Studio out of his Brooklyn apartment. However, he quickly began to develop a foundation of clientele, and in early 2019 was able to open a brick & mortar studio in Downtown Brooklyn.
