Nigerian President Appeals to Nigerian's over Subsidy Removal

The President says his decision to remove fuel subsidy during his inauguration on May 29, 2023, is to save Nigeria country from going under and take the country’s resources away from the stranglehold of a few unpatriotic elements.
He asked Nigerians to sacrifice a little more for the survival of the country.
He says the democracy that will yield the right dividends to the people who are the shareholders means more than just freedom of choice and the right to get people into elective offices. It means social and economic justice for our people.

Nigerian Government to Set Up Committee to Review Minimum Wage

Nigerian Government to Set Up Committee to Review Minimum Wage
The Federal Government says it will consider the list of demands from the Trade Union Congress which includes minimum wage.
The spokesperson for the Federal government, Dele Alake, says that it will also look at the practicability of the demands.
Alake says that most fundamentally President Bola Tinubu will constitute a tripartite committee to include states and organised labour and the private sector to study the dynamics of the minimum wage augmentation to reach an amicable conclusion.
He added that the absence of the NLC does not translate to an isolation of the group in the discussion but that the FG is making efforts to reach them as the parties agreed to reconvene on Tuesday 24 hours before a scheduled strike by the NLC.

Episode 230- Poison To Our Local Economies

Episode 230- Poison To Our Local Economies

www.commsolutionsmn.com- Today we tackle the "conspiracy theory" called The Great Reset, and the brand new Executive Order by the Biden administration. On Friday afternoon, while no one was paying attention, President Biden signed Executive Order 14030, The U.S. Climate Related Financial Risk- A Road Map To Build A Climate Resilient Economy. This has huge local effects.

ESG scores are starting to be assigned to both businesses and individual investors. They look at what kinds of companies you invest in, but they determine the scores of businesses by the racial makeup of their board, gender diversity, actions to combat climate change, and how they administrate this in their organization. This will affect your ability to get mortgages and car loans for certain types of vehicles. Heck, they are going to try and get rid of anything but electric cars by 2030. They talk about protecting pensions, but limit investment opportunities. You can't have both. If this is allowed to stand, it will destroy our economy and pave the way for their new stakeholder capitalism (Chinese communism/capitalism). We must speak out now.

We also discuss the latest developments in the Mohammed Noor case. It's also time for this month's history lesson. Maybe Jason will do better than normal?

Have you checked out our Spotify playlist? At the beginning of each episode, Jason quotes some song lyrics that have to do with the subject matter of the podcast. Andrew never knows what they are, but now he can… and so can you! We’ve launched the Spotify playlist: “Community Solutions Music From the Podcast!” You can listen to Roundabout from Yes after listing to Episode 30 on Roundabouts… or kick back and enjoy a rocking playlist just for the thrill of it. 44. Energy: Financing and subsidy-free renewables projects

In the second of two special episodes of the Joint Venture podcast, Banking and Finance partner Nath Curtis sat down with Inspiratia, and Chris Williams, Head of Project Finance at the bank LBBW, to take stock of the current state of the market.

In this podcast, we focus in on the financing perspective for UK subsidy free renewables project taking in topics such as the impact of proud price movements, the impact of COVID-19, what the optimal power purchase agreement looks like and the prospect of subsidy returning to onshore wind and solar.

We also assess the longer term viability of either fully merchant projects, or those of at least some form of merchant exposure as well as how the level of government intervention stacks up against the requirements to meet the binding decarbonisation targets the UK has set.

This is welcome news for companies across the country, including in the Canadian oilpatch.

    Understanding Econobabble (68)

    Understanding Econobabble (68)

Econobabble is an invented language that deliberately obscures what you think words describe. Words like "unemployment" and "subsidy" are simple at first glance. Wait till you find out what they really mean ! Are you wasting your time looking for certain jobs, investing your savings in the wrong place or voting against you best interests? Are your definitions up to date? 1962, William S. Burroughs suggested that language could be a virus in his book "The Ticket That Exploded". This 30 minute podcast might be the inoculation you've been looking for.

Note: Statistics and examples are for illustrative purposes only. Some are out of date and possibly wrong. The interview was recorded this in late 2017 before the Queensland state election.

Americans are trading-in their electric cars and hybrids

Americans are trading-in their electric cars and hybrids
Many Americans who bought electric cars are now disenchanted.   Billions of tax dollars were spent to induce you to buy an electric car, or at least a hybrid. That includes a $7,500 per car federal incentive, plus state subsidies. Despite the government checks, these remain expensive vehicles.   Buyers soon learn that electric cars have limited range because big batteries are super-heavy and a charge won't take you very far. Performance also lags as other cars accelerate past you.    Fuel savings? With high gasoline prices it took five years to make up for the costlier sticker price of the car. With gas prices down, now it takes ten years—longer than most people keep a car. No, you do NOT recover the higher purchase price by saving on gasoline.     President Obama promised one million electric vehicles would be on our roads by now. Despite the billions spent, we're still 800-thousand cars short. When Americans choose for themselves, they are not choosing the electric cars. Maybe someday those vehicles will improve, but that time is still many years away.

    KunstlerCast #107: Sprawl Defenders

    KunstlerCast #107: Sprawl Defenders

This conversation was recorded one day before James Howard Kunstler was scheduled to debate Randal O'Toole at Brown University in Providence, RI. O'Toole is a well-known advocate for the suburban living arrangement. Host Duncan Crary chats with JHK about the pro-suburbia arguments in preparation for the debate. JHK refutes some of the major arguments used by sprawl defenders, including the notions that sprawl is good because people choose it and that sprawl represents liberty. JHK also notes that while the infrastructure required to deliver suburbia is extremely subsidized with government money, many sprawl defenders argue against public transportation because it is subsidized.
