    In today's episode. We meet with the man who spent the last four years fighting for the little guy. Robb Wong was sworn in as Associate Administrator Office of Government Contracting and Business Development, GCBD, in March of 2017, where he advocated for small businesses and represents them on behalf of the President of the United States. Historically the Associate Administrator Government Contracting Business Development overseas over $500 billion and total federal spending, helps ensure that small businesses can compete for federal opportunities. Robb strategy was straightforward. #1, make SBA certifications more useful. #2, Increase the supply of contracts reserved for the various small business programs and #3 improved GCBD customer service. Highlights of the team's three-year accomplishments include small business contract opportunities grew a total of 33%, HUBZone program revamped for the first time in 20 years, WOSB formal certification, improving teaming opportunities for all 8a, HUBZone, WOSB, SDVOSB's, subcontract and goals increase to create more opportunities. Rob's philosophy is cemented. And the belief that Small businesses are the job generators that will help make America great again.

    In today's episode, we talk about Rob's accomplishments at the SBA. What changes are needed to ensure small businesses continue to win at receiving government contracts? What he would like to see happen after his retirement to push the needle forward for small firms. He continues to give to small businesses.     Today's guest is Marie Gill of MGill and Associates. Her story is like most entrepreneurial journeys where it has the shares of bumps and bruises. Today her organization operates the MBDA Export Center, one of only four in the entire country and the only one in Florida. She has been making an impact helping small businesses since the early 90's and continues to be a difference maker all the way through the global pandemic. I can tell you that I've known of her organization since I first learned about contracting her MEDweek events were always epic and she helped many of us, small businesses get our first start and the world of business. This was a fan interview for me, as I got a chance to interview one of the greatest advocates of small businesses that I've personally ever met in my life.     Ronnette Meyers founder of JLAN Solutions story mirrors that of many entrepreneurs who got their first start from their parents. But unlike those who have severed ties, grew apart or could no longer work together, her and her mom hatched out a plan to increase their net worth, build generational wealth and capitalize on a skill set they had acquired over the previous decade. While growing out her mom’s multi-million-dollar firm, JMA Solutions. Mom and daughter got together and said how can we grow bigger, do more, help others in greater numbers. The solution; separate into two different organizations. 

    Today Ronnette and JLAN is off to the races and has made a name for themselves winning the DC Chamber of Commerce 2020 Women in Business and Washington Business Journal 2020 Minority Business Leader honoree. Today’s episode highlights her upbringing with a single mom, the opportunities afforded to their family via the military, her upbringing in Germany, building her mom’s business, launching JLAN and investing in Hotels, Broadway shows and Condo’s.

    Ms. Mundra volunteers her time and expertise for various organizations, to include CompTIA, ISACA, PMI, and NCMA.  She was recently recognized by DCA Live as a “Top 40 Federal Entrepreneur” for her efforts and accomplishments in the federal contracting community.  She also received a 2018 Stevie “Women in Business” Award for her contributions to Chenega and the small business community at large.
