Potential Pick - Next Goal Wins

Chris and Taylor review the sports comedy-drama film Next Goal Wins written and directed by Taika Waititi and co-written by Iain Morris.  Based on the 2014 documentary of the same name by Mike Brett and Steve Jamison, the film follows Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen's efforts to lead the American Samoa national football team, considered one of the weakest soccer teams in the world, to qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.  The film stars Michael Fassbender, Oscar Knightley, Kaimana, David Fane, Rachel House, Beulah Koale, Will Arnett, Elisabeth Moss, Uli Latukefu and Chris Alosio.

The Last Party on Alderaan, Hobbits and Hocus Pocus - A Weekend at Dragon Con!

This week, the guys quickly mention the recently passed conclusion of the Dragon Con Hunger Games with the Marriott rooms going up for the Con weekend before delving more into their Dragon Con 2023 Timeline. What shenanigans did they get into? Did they have Keytone Lights? Did they have Gyros? Did they see Hobbits, the Hocus Pocus cast, someone from both the Wizarding and Zombie Apocalypse Worlds and Freddie Prinze Jr? Captain Bird Sparrow?!?! All that and more on this week's DragonCon Survival Guide!

Gary and Taylor, lifelong friends and self-proclaimed Dragon Con/Convention experts, talk tips and hacks to get the most out of your con experience - while saving as much money as possible – and whatever nerdy stuff crosses their minds. Save more at cons to spend more at cons! New episodes drop every Saturday.

    Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

For better or for worse, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a very different place after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch the latest MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and ultimately decide how it stacks up against the other 3 Thor films, Thor comic books, and the MCU at large. Also, we passionately agree that this film should have been called simply—Fhor.

Folge 1151: THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER – „Eat My Hammer!“

Folge 1151: THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER – „Eat My Hammer!“

    51 - "Thor: Love & Thunder" Review & SPOILERCAST

    51 - "Thor: Love & Thunder" Review & SPOILERCAST

So this is my vow, all movies must get reviewed. That’s right. We are back for another world famous SPOILERCAST. This time we do a deep dive and review of Thor: Love and Thunder following our non-spoiler review earlier in the week. This seems to be the most polarizing Marvel movie that we’ve gotten to date, which is…interesting that this is the one that’s divided people the most. We break down why we think that is along with our thoughts on the film, the post-credit scenes and as always, what the implications are on the greater MCU. Before that, we talk all the news of the past week which will be neatly timecoded below if you want to skip around. Thank you to everyone who continues to support and don’t forget to subscribe to download new episodes as they become available and don’t be afraid to share a rating!

    MOVIE DISCUSSION:

Like all good movie podcasts, we have to talk about Thor: Love and Thunder. Even if it is terrible.

    Topics:

    • (PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 46-minutes talking about TV-Shows: Ms. Marvel, the upcoming Echo show (feat. Daredevil), and brief discussion on Umbrella Academy (S3) (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)
    • Pitching a Gwenpool show for Disney Marvel.
    • Did we laugh even one time during Thor: Love and Thunder?
    • Melvin and Daniel each bring interesting observations regarding Taika Waititi as a content creator and Rotten Tomatoes as a review-aggregate site, and how they relate to Thor: Love and Thunder.
    • Thor: Love and Thunder reopens the vault of "poorly handled Marvel villains", including wasted casting just like Thor: The Dark World.
    • Melvin, "I think sex jokes can be funny, but this movie? It was weird."
    • The goats are the worst part of the MCU.
    • Daniel shares yet another stranger theater experience he witnessed.
    • Thoughts on the ending, which still doesn't really work.
    • Post-credit discussion.
    • Fantasizing about a Tournament-Style Marvel flick where we get to watch characters solve a noir-case outside of mandatory 1v1 fatal fights. Basically, Marvel's Mortal Kombat.
    • Melvin asks Daniel if he thinks Disney might have a rough couple of months moving forward what-with people tuning out of Ms. Marvel, Obi-Wan Kenobi being real boring, She-Hulk looking bad, and Andor being kind of just... another not interesting Star Wars thing.

Episode 173: Thor: Love and Thunder Spoiler Review

Episode 173: Thor: Love and Thunder Spoiler Review

Ahoy there, loyal listeners! Welcome to this very prompt and urgent spoiler review for the latest entry in the MCU, 'Thor: Love and Thunder'. We were definitely always going to do this episode this week and we promise it's not because Alex couldn't be bothered to think of another idea for an episode topic.

So this full on spoiler review is slightly odd as only Andy has seen the film so he more or less just tells Alex what happens in the movie. But full spoilers still apply!
