SAP Industries Live: Banking's Digital Transformation With TD Bank's Jason Cawthorn and SAP's Falk Rieker
    • Banking's move to the cloud: The banking industry is shifting from building and maintaining on-premise infrastructure to adopting cloud services to improve efficiency and agility. The shift is gradual due to the responsibility of safeguarding data and complying with stringent regulatory requirements.
    • Global regulations: Navigating diverse global privacy laws and regulatory requirements remains one of the industry's biggest challenges. There are few common positions, although regional agreements are a step in the right direction. There's an example of a customer who had to talk to more than 50 different regulators while implementing an SAP suite.
    • AI and machine learning: Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are being applied in banking processes to improve efficiency, predict contract consumption, and provide guided buying procedures.

The Big Quote: ". . .cloud is not like the old managed services where you took your mess, and you made it someone else's problem to execute. It really does require you to understand what you have today [and] where you want to go. And you have to be prepared for that. Because otherwise, it really could be a very unpleasant deployment . . . we avoided a lot of that by being prepared and taking our time and not rushing."

Doing it Right! Ep. 101 | Jack Lowe, Jr. - TDIndustries Retired CEO & Board Chair Behind the Scenes
Now celebrating its 75th Anniversary, TDIndustries, Inc. mechanical construction and facilities services company has made the list of Best Places to Work every year since the awards inception in 1998.

TD was the first company to embrace Servant Leadership! And what exactly IS Servant Leadership? You’ll hear Jack and I talk heart-to-heart about the tidbits of his life as a leader, husband and father.

You’ll hear how TD was introduced to the founding visionary of the servant leadership movement, Bob Greenleaf. That story and others are golden nuggets of a life well lived that you’ll only hear on this podcast—just Jack and me sitting in our living room set – discussing things like:

-How did Jack become friends with the first NASA astronauts?
-What did he aspire to be when he grew up?
-What was it like to come to work with his dad, Jack Lowe, Sr. (founder of TD)?
-What were the best and worst times for being the CEO?
-Who did Jack go to for support when he needed advice?
-How did his dad start school de-segregation peacefully in Dallas?
-How did TD survive the downturn of the 80’s with financial help from their
    employees?
-How do you hold people accountable for operationalizing servant leadership?
-Was it hard to retire after 52 years at TD?

Tune in to hear this Legacy Leader share his life’s journey with us.

    TPOVS:
-TRUST until people prove they are NOT trustworthy!
-If WHAT you do is WHO you are – it’s hard to retire.
-Have each other’s back…..take care of what’s in front of YOU and count on your buddies to take care of what’s in front of THEM.
-Hold people accountable for two things: produce business results…and
    help those around you grow!
    -Play to each other’s strengths.

    E11. Blue Monday

Doing it Right! Ep. 92 | Women in Construction – Nikki Morgan, EVP TDIndustries

Doing it Right! Ep. 92 | Women in Construction – Nikki Morgan, EVP TDIndustries
“I kinda fell into construction.” So says Nikki Morgan, Executive Vice President at
TDIndustries. Looking back 23 years she remembered the interview that landed her first
job at TD as an executive assistant. It didn’t take long for her to be recognized for
outstanding talents and leadership capabilities that led to her current role.

Nikki’s story is an example of successfully forging a path in the construction industry
where currently only 10% are roles filled by women. Her message is clear – “don’t be
misconceived that trade workers need to be men.” Nikki takes pride in sharing how
much opportunity and financial gain is available for women in the trade.

Tune in as she speaks passionately about the many skills that women can learn and
enjoy as they benefit from unlimited rewards and salaries.

    TPOVS:
1 – To lead during Covid – stay in touch, be available. You never know how people
are feeling. That will affect the work product, their family and everything down the line
    from that. - 20:15
2 – Be authentic, read the room and the situation. It’s one thing to be strong willed
and assertive but understand the situation. As a woman leading in a male dominated
industry, don’t be overwhelming. Pushing when you shouldn’t push doesn’t win you any
    awards. - 21:47
3 – Never stop learning & write it down – take advantage of the training that’s
available. And if you don’t understand something, ask or go back and review what
you’ve just learned. Never leave a point without understanding the full context. - 6:47
4 – Speed up technology Stay on top of it. You must push more and utilize what helps
your company be efficient and competitive - 25:32
5 – Debunk the theory that “if you’re not in the office you’re not working.”
Millennials have been telling us all along. We’ve all had a mind shift. Those who can
come back to the offices want to. 25:57
6 – If you need me, just pick up the phone! We’ve become so used to the back-to-
back zoom meetings, don’t hesitate to call if need someone. - 32:24
7 – Be well. Take care of yourself every day. (you have this one) - 31:29
