Ep 5. Puddins Fab Shop | In the Aisles w/ Derek Bieri

You never know what—or who—you’ll run into in the aisles. In this episode, Derek talks to Jacob from the YouTube channel Puddin’s Fab Shop. Hear Jacob discuss his journey from jet engine mechanic to “I wasn’t cut out for customer service.” He talks about his work on Datsuns, box trucks and Internationals, his dream of owning a ’64 Impala Wagon, and his lying under a truck in a flash flood, bench-pressing a transmission into place. At which point, Derek and Jacob agree: wrenching in the rain is the worst.

    Pop Goes The Eagle

    Pop Goes The Eagle

Eagles that fly in the sky are graceful but it was not so elegant for the Goodyear Eagles at Texas Motor Speedway. It was another rough day for tires as many drivers faced punctures during the race on Sunday. We are also joined by Pierce also known as  "PS_iRun" on Twitter joined Kenny to talk about all of the action at Texas Motor Speedway. They'll also discuss Jimmie Johnson's retirement from full-time racing. Then of course the duo will give their predictions for this weekend's race at Talladega Super Speedway

I’m not good with this car going into the wall” (3:15); who was to blame for the tire problems at Texas? (5:30); would shortening a 500-mile playoff race for safety reasons compromise its integrity in any meaningful way? (7:30); how the current state of the Next Gen factors into KP’s thinking (10:00); why Texas was reminiscent of the ugly tire war era of the 1990s (12:00); why tire competition is a bad idea (14:30); the concept of tire management and what should be expected at an elite level of racing (16:30); and how the concept of tire management has evolved (19:30); trying to find the happy medium of the tire that falls off instead of popping (21:30); William Byron vs. Denny Hamlin (25:00); how should NASCAR have handled penalties (27:30); why KP believes a postrace punishment isn’t warranted for Byron (30:00); how did NASCAR miss the initial call? After Texas, multiple Cup drivers must win to move on to Homestead for championship run

After Texas, multiple Cup drivers must win to move on to Homestead for championship run

Kevin Harvick now joins Martin Truex Jr. after his win at Texas Sunday to be locked in for a run at the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Championship at Homestead. Bad luck continued to follow Chase Elliott who was already in a must win situation after having mechanical trouble at Martinsville. Hamlin came into the race second in points but after leaves Texas fifth and 20 points behind Logano in fourth. Sam Atwell and Brian Dulle discuss what drivers besides Truex and Harvick are most likely to move on with a shot at the championship at this point. Only three drivers in the last 20 years have won more than one NASCAR cup championship. They are Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Jimmie Johnson.
