Here's The Deal Podcast - The Max Baker Jr. Story - Episode 40

Right off the bat, at the very begining of the Episode, Listen to Big Dad Ritch of the Texas Hippie Coalition do his impersonation of Max Baker Jr. & hear his take on "Here's The Deal"... We left off at Feb. 21st, 2003, a show with Malevolent Creation & Anal Blast at the Otherside in Tulsa. Max tells his adventures of distributing flyers for that show at Oral Roberts University... Who knew such judgement would be thrown at Max from the believers.... Henry Rollins comes to town doing a spoken word show. at the end of Feb. 2003 Max & Jeff discuss an ICP & 2 Live Crew show at the Diamond Ballroom. Throughout numerous episodes Max has discussed "issues... problems.... & show stoppers"... This ICP show had a show stopper situation that had to be corrected. When you rent venues to put on shows, occasionally you've got to fix those show stoppers to ensure the show happens.... THE SHOW MUST GO ON! Jeff & Max discuss the Mad Dogs & Englishmen reunited show April of 2003 with Joe Cocker & Leon Russell. We all agree, in one of the biggest rock n roll feud's of all time, we're all Team Leon!

Here's The Deal Podcast - The Max Baker Jr. Story - Episode 35

We pick up in 2002 with a legendary show at The Otherside in Tulsa w/ Hatebreed, Six Feet Under, Shadows Fall & Death Threat. Absolutely incredible, sold out show in Tulsa w/ an even funnier story behind it as venue security uses Jay Ramone's head as a door opener as he gets hurled into the parking lot, rolling past Max Baker Jr. & Hatebreed's Tour Manager at the time, known as Sully The Bull. What more could more entertaining than seeing Jay Ramone getting tossed from a venue? The first time you see Hardcore Dancing comes pretty close.

Here's The Deal Podcast - The Max Baker Jr. Story - Episode 32

During 2001, Max began to branch out & do more shows in Tulsa, Oklahoma. One venue where many legendary Metal shows happened was at 69th & South Lewis in Tulsa, called The Otherside. We discuss talk about many Otherside shows like Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Clutch, Murphys Law, Wasp, Lamb of God, Mushroomhead, Soil, Mudvayne, American Head Charge, as well as, The Rollins Band show where Jay Ramone meets Max for the first time! This was the Nu Metal era of Otherside shows. Any band in that genre played at the Otherside. We also discuss the September 11th, 2001 show that ended up cancelling & what concerts were like after that American tragedy!

Cowbells, Kettlebells And The Savage Son With Aram Grigorian

Cowbells, Kettlebells And The Savage Son With Aram Grigorian

In this episode, Anthony and I chop it up with an absolute SAVAGE dude - Aram Grigorian.  We do our best Christopher Walken impersonation, talk about relationship dynamics and the fitness industry.

A former finance douche and party boy, Aram came to the hard realization that it wasn't the things in his life that drove him, but the impact that he made on the lives of others in a positive way. He started personal training people after being laid off from his finance job, and 10 years later, has coached hundreds of clients with his belief system of food quality/quantity, training intensity/frequency and rest/recovery. He provides food for thought daily on his Instagram page @4weeks2thebeach and he gets clients to release themselves of their limiting beliefs by changing perspective and helping folks see that there are solutions to everything if you want to find them.

    Ep 60: Cam

    Ep 60: Cam

This week, Chris sits down with songwriter and country music star Cam, whose hit song, “Burning House”, is still the best-selling country song by a female solo artist over the past 5 years. After crowdfunding her first record and getting cuts with artists like Miley Cyrus and Maggie Rose, Cam moved to Nashville to pursue a publishing deal, and has since worked with an impressive list of collaborators, including Tyler Johnson, Jeff Bhasker, Sam Smith, Harry Styles, Jack Antanoff and the late Avicii.

This episode is celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8th. Cam has been a vocal advocate for equality for women, especially in country music (she was even named a member of the Recording Academy Diversity and Inclusion Task Force in 2018). Settle in for an illuminating chat not only about her incredible journey in the music business, songwriting process and new album “The Otherside”, but her thoughts on closing the gender gap in the entertainment industry and building a music community that is inclusive and welcoming to everyone.

    134: Cam

    134: Cam

On Episode 134, I'm joined by singer-songwriter Cam, who released the exceptional, genre-transcending The Otherside this past Friday (Oct 30). Cam has long been one of my favorite artists due to her refreshing pop sensibilities, lyrical (and vocal) nuance, and the emotional weight that much of her songwriting catalog carries. The Otherside sees Cam further blossom as a storyteller, performer, and country pop star. Strong anthemic singles like the love-drunk synth swaying "Till There's Nothing Left," the bubbly feelgood "Classic," and soaring instant classic "Diane" reel even the most cavalier of listeners. They're dynamic earworms that highlight different strengths within the Cam toolbox. Still, the backbone of The Otherside is the collection of keen ballads ("Happier For You," "Forgetting You"), heartwarmers such as "Like A Movie", and the reassurances and redemption found in the likes of "Changes" and "Girl Like Me."

During this interview, we talk about writing with the likes of Lori McKenna, Hillary Lindsey,  Liz Rose, Sam Smith, and Tim Bergling (Avicii), creating mood boards, navigating Nashville and the music industry, the Michael Jordan documentary The Last Dance, and of course, the ins and outs of her wonderful new album, The Otherside.
