Is America Still a Christian Country? With Brent Simpson #68

Is America Still a Christian Country? With Brent Simpson #68

According to a recent Pew Research Study, America is moving away from Christianity.  Fewer people pray or see religion as being something important in their lives.  Many believe that America is no longer a Christian Nation.  Polarizing political views further divide our country.

In this episode of Finish Strong, Brent Simpson, Lead Pastor of Arise Church in Brandon, Florida examines these disturbing trends.  He explains that Christians need to adopt a missionary’s approach to sharing their faith.

Tune into this episode and discover how we can turn America back to the True God.

    Finding A New Way

    Finding A New Way

So many things came together that could  have made this moment different. The ascendance of a new progressive economics. A more intersectional gender justice movement. Greater numbers of women political leaders. Multi-racial organizing that is centering women of color and making caregiving a central political issue. But once again, a handful of politicians have prioritized personal success over the well-being of the many.

In our final episode of the season, we're honoring the work that brought the U.S. closer to public investments in caregiving than at any point in history. And talking about the cultural work that still needs to be done, for tangible changes to take root.

    The Breaking Point

    The Breaking Point

In March 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic became a global health crisis. But from it bore a whole set of complementary crises: an economic crisis and a caregiving crisis.

The pandemic erased more than 30 years of gains in women’s labor force participation, while simultaneously leaving women to shoulder the majority of the family responsibilities. But the conditions for these crises existed long before COVID-19 hit American shores. How exactly did we get here?

    Covid-19 | One Year Later

    Covid-19 | One Year Later

The Corona Virus also known as Covid-19 was introduced to the world in 2020. Roughly a year later, we are still facing challenges with this Global Pandemic. Those who are classified as essential workers, had to push through and remain working on the front lines, each day despite the fears they may have faced.

Many lives were lost due to the slow response with putting forth a plan to contain the virus. On a global scale, there have been 152 million people that contracted the virus, which has resulted in roughly 3.19 million deaths. In the U.S. there were roughly 33 million cases reported of people being exposed to Covid-19. That resulted in 589,000 people losing their lives to the Corona Virus. Many of us had asked ourselves, Is this now the new normal as we struggled to deal with the loss of family and friends. Would we ever go back to the way things used to be or would we all have to adjust and hope for the better?

During those dark times, people went into survival mode by taking one day at a time because the world was filled with too much uncertainty. Towards the end of 2020, several vaccines were introduced and are currently being distributed around the world. Things are starting to shift in a positive direction and people are feeling hopeful about the future again. Now, each day feels like a new day.

We’d like to welcome you to our Second Episode of Authentic Filters: Covid-19 | One Year Later. If you have not had a chance to get vaccinated, we encourage you to do so. Be smart, be aware, and understand that this Virus is nothing to play with! Let us know your thoughts below.
