    The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

    The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
    When The Super Mario Bros. Movie was first announced with scant details except an all-star cast, rumors ran wild. Will they try live action again, or is it animated? Will they try one of the many recent video game plots, or will this be an all-new story? Is this a complete and utter financial folly, with $300 million in development and promotion?

    Vinnk and Sean review the highest-grossing film of 2023, and (so far) the 19th top grossing film of all time, point out every visual and audio Easter egg they could find, and actually share some criticisms of a Nintendo product! Gasp!

    Starring:
    * Chris Pratt - Mario
    * Charlie Day - Luigi
    * Anya Taylor-Joy - Princess Peach
    * Jack Black - Bowser, King of the Koopas
    * Keegan-Michael Key - Toad
    * Seth Rogen - Donkey Kong
    * Fred Armisen - Cranky Kong

    Available in theaters.

    The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Evil Dead (2013), and Psycho (1960) Movie Review and Deep Dives

    The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Evil Dead (2013), and Psycho (1960) Movie Review and Deep Dives

    Spoiler free movie review of The Super Mario Bros. Movie that is already a massive blockbuster hit! We then take a journey back to 2013 and visit the Fede Alvarez's infamous Evil Dead remake, Evil Dead! Is is the scariest in the entire franchise!? And last but not least, Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960) deep dive and analysis!

    We start with a spoiler free review of MARIO! The Super Mario Bros. Movie wastes no time immediately going from the lovable plumbers from Brooklyn and then being whisked away in a drainage pop to the Mushroom Kingdom! Directed by the trio of Aaron Horvath, Michael Jelenic, and Pierre Leduc, and also brought to life with the voices of Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, Jack daggum Black as Bowser, Charles Martinet in a beautiful cameo, Keegan-Michael Key and so many more, we now have a modern Super Mario Bros movie and we couldn't be more amped! BUT, does it live up to the hype, did box offices eat a magic mushroom or is it the real deal!? Listen to find out.

    Then come on a trip with us to a bloody snow globe containing the most famous cabin in the woods ever, the one belonging to Evil Dead! This Evil Dead 2013 remake has divided people for a decade, die-hards of the franchise and horror aficionados have shed blood on whether or not Fede Alvarez's remake is worthy of the moniker.. Evil Dead! Some call this Evil Dead iteration not only the scariest of the franchise, but potentially one of the scariest movies... ever! Sharing a year with the Conjuring, it was easy to forget that Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, and co brought more blood fodder back to the infamous cabin, but where do we think this Evil Dead (2013) finds its place in the horror movie stratosphere, and in the franchise? Listen and find out.  (note, we also discuss addiction and JUNG's shadow self, I misspoke and said Kant in the episode, as I believe these are strong themes in this film)

    Last but CERTAINLY not least.. Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960)! What can be said about this immortal movie that terrorized audiences everywhere over 60 years ago? Well, we think a lot actually. Take a trip with us to Bates Motel where the greatest acting performance of all time (debatably) takes place with Anthony Perkins' portrayal of world's favorite momma's boy, Norman Bates! Alfred Hitchcock self-funded this movie, shot it with this TV crew, and then threatened audiences everywhere that they will be turned away if they're late their Psycho screening- come journey with us and find out why.  And let's go on the exploration Psycho deserves as we revisit some of the most famous scenes in cinematic history and why exactly people call Psycho potentially the GREATEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME!

    131. Super Mario Bros. (1993)

    131. Super Mario Bros. (1993)

    "Better than the others, you'll be hooked on the brothers. UNH!" But in all seriousness folks, Super Mario is back in theaters this month, with Nintendo's big-budget return to the silver screen already hauling in cash in wheelbarrows. But it took a long, long time for the iconic video game company to ever attempt another theatrical release, in no small part thanks to SUPER MARIO BROS. (1993), the Bob Hoskins/John Leguizamo vehicle that was a commercial and critical failure, and torpedoed the careers of husband and wife directorial duo Rocky Morton and Annabel Jankel. Was the hate deserved, or is this a hidden gem? Kevin and Chris are joined by returning guest Sean Hurlburt to find out.
