Today on the Dad's Doomsday Guide we welcome Dr. Daniel E. Brooks, the Medical Director for the Banner Poison & Drug Information Center. 

Dr. Brooks was kind enough to lay out what you can do if you or someone you love has been poisoned either intentionally or accidentally. 

Having called Poison Control when my first child decided to pop open a bottle of lotion and chug away, I can attest to how important such services are when faced with a potentially dangerous situation. Dr. Brooks goes into great detail discussing everything from rattlesnake bites to what not to do if your child ingests a poison. And of course, we discuss the signs and symptoms that may be present if someone has tried to poison you.

One of the main takeaways from our conversation was if you or anyone you know has been poisoned, call the poison control (number below). It will save you valuable time, and ensure the information you are getting is safe and accurate.

Let's talk about surviving!

Today Wesley from Superesse Straps joins The Dad's Doomsday Guide to discuss all things survival, and what you and your family should be thinking about as you prepare.

Wesley touches on several important topics including preparing/defending your home, the best ways to ensure ample food and water in case of an emergency, communication methods, and the list goes on.

The main take away from Wesley's advice is to prepare. Run through plans with family and close friends ensuring the game plan is set no matter the emergency. Far too often survival tips focus on how many cans of food, or gallons of water one should have, but fail to touch upon the essential preparations that will guide you to make better choices for you and your family. 

Think of planning like a template, that you customize to fit the needs of those around you. 

Through our conversation I came to realize how woefully unprepared I am, and how I've been dragging my feet to ensure things are organized in case SHTF. Hopefully this conversation gets you thinking about what you can do to be prepared, and provides you with the information to get that ball rolling before doomsday!

Today The Dad's Doomsday Guide announces the winner of the Dad's Story Time contest. Jeremy! 

Jeremy sent in his story regarding an IRS scam, and offered a bit of wisdom and requested The DDG pursue deepfake technology topics as this tech becomes more advanced, and scams more convincing. We're happy to be sending him a nice little survival bag as his reward!

Scott also chimes in on a terrifying knife fight his dad encountered many years ago, where a woman with HIV attempted to bite him. Covered in blood his father went home and realized a career change was needed. Scott highlighted the importance of recognizing when you are physically or mentally unable to perform a job, or it becomes too dangerous, realize that the most valuable things in life are time and relationships. Don't let obsessive goals or destructive forces to your personal well-being derail these coveted items. You don't get a do-over... Unless you believe in reincarnation!
