• How body weight, body condition score and dry matter intake are impacted in blanketed horses
• The next scientific research project in the works to evaluate whether horses should be blanketed or not

Can horses actually TELL us if they want a blanket or not? Dr. DeBoer also shares the results from a fascinating research study answering this question.

Kathy Anderson and Danielle Smarsh talk about the most effective methods of weigh loss in overweight horses, whether foal size at birth translates to different sized adults, and if electrolyte supplementation is needed for light to moderately exercised horses.

Focus is a word we throw around but are you REALLY focused?  This is the time to really go back and evaluate how your focus is so your month 2 of 2022 can be more successful.

1 - Eliminate Sneaky Distractions! There are so many things you don't realize are distracting you.

2- Don't Look! What do Black Caviar, Peppers Pride & Eclipse all have in common? They run only looking forward. So should you. Your only glance should serve a purpose.

3- Track Your Results! Don't wait until the END of the month or year to track your results. Track them more frequently so you can see your distractions.

4 - Self Care Is VITAL! You have to love yourself enough to make sure you put yourself care a priority.

Much in the way that the history of slavery, the Civil War and Reconstruction can get spun into an alternative narrative of genteel white Southern virtues, an important African American contribution to a key sports and cultural institution has been whitewashed.

For the 145th running of the Kentucky Derby, "Arrive Early, Leave Late" takes a different turn, as Beto Durán (@DuranSports) sits down with national correspondent Kurtis Lee (@kurtisalee) to talk about his Column One piece on the little known story of the African American jockeys who rode to victory in the early days of Churchill Downs.

On episode 8 of The Horse Racing Show, Kenny Rice celebrates the women of the horse racing world, as well as the women in other sports who compete directly against men. Kenny speaks with famous female jockey Julie Krone, Rood & Riddle President and CEO Dr. Deborah Spike-Pierce, and accomplished agent Ron Anderson.
