Father's Day Special! Dad beers, beers for dads, dad gifts, and hella dad jokes

Huge thanks to our Patreon supporter Coach Rogers for the suggestion for this show.  We appreciate it!

Father's Day is a little over a week away.  Are you ready for it?

Dads.  We all have them.  Questionable fashion, cheesy jokes, mad love for our idiotic selves.  Dads don't get the credit they deserve, which is probably why they need a beer.

We delve into all things dad in this episode.  Discussing what a dad beer is, or maybe what it was and what it is today.  We share stories of beers we had with our dads, our dads' favorite beers, offer some gift ideas for dad, and share a slew of really awful dad jokes.

Don't forget Dad next Sunday.  Get him his favorite beer, take him out to his favorite dinner, and make sure to laugh at his jokes.

    • Mickey’s Big Mouth | Malt Liquor
    • Miller High Life | Champagne of Beers

Timothy Taylor on Government vs. Business

Timothy Taylor on Government vs. Business

Timothy Taylor, blogger at the Conversable Economist and editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives talks with EconTalk host Russ Roberts about the role of government and business in taking care of workers and creating economic growth. Taylor discusses the paradox that the political process seems to expect firms to take care of workers and government to create growth. The conversation then turns to a wide array of related issues including how Wal-Mart treats its workers. The conversation closes with a discussion of Taylor's role as founding editor of the Journal of Economic Perspectives.

In his new book “Sounds of Capitalism,” UCLA musicologist Timothy D. Taylor tracks the use of music in American advertising for nearly a century, from variety shows to the rise of the jingle, the postwar rise in consumerism and the more complete fusion of popular music and consumption in the 1980s and after. Here he discusses the awkward transition early 20th century advertisers endured as they adjusted to the new medium of radio. Series: "Writers" [Humanities] [Show ID: 24026]
