TISM 'Machiavelli and the Four Seasons' vs. Regurgitator 'Unit' w/ Tyler Jenke

Tyler Jenke is one of Australia's premier music journalists, writing for Tone Deaf, The Industry Observer, and The Brag, plus overseeing Australia's Rolling Stone Magazine, and today he's on the show to chat two Aussie classic bands in TISM and Regurgitator! TISM's 'Machiavelli and the Four Seasons' was a huge success for the band, as was 'Unit' by Regurgitator - and they've been fun to listen to this week. Enjoy!

Episode #85 feat. Phil Jamieson of Grinspoon

Episode #85 feat. Phil Jamieson of Grinspoon
When you think of iconic Australian bands from the late 90's, you can't go past Grinspoon who have been tearing up stages for the better part of the past 24 years (yes we're including the hiatus too, eat me!) and they're set to do it all again celebrating their BEST songs for a special edition vinyl which will coincide with a massive Australian tour and this week frontman Phil Jamieson joins the show to talk all about it.

Join podcast host Browny as he takes a look back at the band's two and a bit decades in the music industry and the pair reflect on where they've come from to what's next. Is there new music on the way? What hasn't Phil crossed off that "bucket list" yet and what about those rumours of him appearing on Australian Survivor last year? Were they true and would he consider it in future seasons? All that and more are covered in the pair' chat.

Plus, we go wayyyyy back into the Australian music scene and revive songs from bands you probably haven't heard in a long time (or at all) including classics from TISM, Gyroscope, Lash, The Vines, Happyland, Kisschasy, Frenzal Rhomb, Killing Heidi, Silverchair, Regurgitator, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Wolfmother and the brand new single from The Butterfly Effect even gets a spin too.

Episode 10 - St. Kilda: Winmar Stands, Winmar Walks

Episode 10 - St. Kilda: Winmar Stands, Winmar Walks

As 1993 dawned the Saints were coming. After years of failure they’d made the finals in two straight years and maybe the elusive flag was now in reach. When they broke a 17 year hoodoo at Victoria Park in Round 4 that feeling grew, Lockett was still to return and Nicky Winmar was in Brownlow Medal favourite form.  Winmar’s actions on that day were the start of significant changes for football that are widely recognised 25 years on.

But what happened after that day at Victoria Park was much bigger news in 1993 than Winmar’s generational gesture. Mayhem descended on Moorabbin via a soap opera involving Winmar, Peter Jess, the St Kilda board and….Molly Meldrum?

We speak to broadcaster and Saints tragic Bruce Eva about the bizarre events at St Kilda that derailed the 1993 season.

The Greatest Season That Was: 93 documents our contention that in 1993, footy was never better. Hosted by Adam Collins, Dan Brettig and Shannon Gill, this series is an in-depth exploration of one amazing season.

The Greatest Season That Was: 93 is produced by Jay Mueller and edited by Thom Lion. Check out Bad Producer Productions for more podcasts.
