    #188: The Theme Song Tape

If you're interested in getting over 40 songs stuck in your head, this is absolutely the episode for you. After dissecting the value and power of theme songs, we separate a pretty large handful of popular theme songs from the biggest shows (and some small ones), and rank them into the tiers of S, A, B, C, D and F. While we can agree on some of the major ones, we are also completely opposite on some other ones.

If you want to give a listen to the songs we are reviewing by playing them in the background, check out this playlist we made on YouTube. Also, subscribe while you're at it ;) - Shonen Tapes Theme Playlist.

Old Gen vs New Gen ft Maino Traxx

"But can he beat Goku though!?" The age-old question when it comes to anime hot takes. The older generation of anime watchers stand firm in their stance about whether or not the newer generation can hang with the heroes of yesteryear, but can't we all just get along? In the end of the day, we all love the concept, but sometimes you do have to wonder....which one is better? Why does older anime seem to have more substance? Why is the newer anime more popular? Who really comes out on top in all categories? Lets dive deep into the discussion to see which one favors more across the board.

    AN-29: Tokyo Ghoul [S1]

    AN-29: Tokyo Ghoul [S1]

Thank you all for requesting this one, especially @gabrielcolon22. I know we took our sweet time getting to it, but I'm glad we waited because...

This anime deserves ALL THE HYPE!! Not only does it open (and close the season finale) with one of the most iconic songs in anime history, the OST as a stand alone album took us completely by surprise and quite honestly has helped us in standardizing an actual grading scale for all the OSTs we've listened to so far. And it only took us 50 episodes to dial one in lol.

You will definitely want headphones for this episode. The sound design is impeccable!
