    DDG Episode 114

We have a huge episode this week because Microsoft has purchased Activision Blizzard! The makers of Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Starcraft, Spyro and Overwatch are now part of Xbox Studios. So we spend quite a bit of time on the subject from our reactions to the news, what we think this means for the future of gaming and if PlayStation needs to respond.

The Sub Vets: Tom Clancy Is Still Dead...

The Sub Vets: Tom Clancy Is Still Dead...
Eric Ryle is back to talk submarines and whether or not Tom Clancy is still dead… Updates on the latest idiotic USS Connecticut theory and how the Russians were so concerned about what appeared to be litter on the ocean floor that they cleaned up a bunch of it, just to make everybody smile. Smoking cigarettes on Submarines used to be a thing. How Dave ended up as a C3 Poseidon FTB. Eric tells the communists some Top Secret stuff. As it turns out, Tom Clancy might have been Brietbarted over his book “The Hunt for Red October.” In any case, he is still dead…

    Red October - Episode 4

    Red October - Episode 4
Wherein we discuss the movie version of The Hunt for Red October and we also discuss: good cuts from the book, whether Danielle could live on a submarine, ageless (and misused) celebrities, behind the scenes details Other Chris learned from the DVD extras, Mullets and Mustaches, and why this movie wouldn't be made today.

    Red October - Episode 2

    Red October - Episode 2
Wherein we discuss the middle section of The Hunt for Red October (chapters 8 thru 13) and we also discuss: multiple secret plans being executed at once, brinksmanship with missiles and radar, mixing oxygen tanks and cigarettes, souvenirs that Chris may or may not have brought back from Egypt, and Other Chris explains some basics of espionage.

    DDG Episode 90

    DDG Episode 90

It’s a big week for Valve as they announced their first portable console...er PC, the Steam Deck. So what does this mean for Valve and could it change the landscape of gaming?

In other news, we have another Tencent acquisition and Ubisoft announced a new Tom Clancy game.

In Playing and Watching, we’re light on games, but have a semi serious Space Jam: A New Legacy conversation. Speaking of Space Jam, MJC recorded a special episode dedicated to the new movie over at on his movie podcast, Every Movie Ever which can be found at EveryMovieEver.zone

    Episode 157: NNN: Podcast
Well, well well, it looks like Nintendo is the juggernaut that everyone expected, while you might be able to get a switch, despite its massive sales, good luck finding a PS5. Some 80s icons are coming to Warzone, if official tweets are to be believed. Ubisoft makes some strange decisions. CSI is returning to screens this fall, while the Golden Globes is being forced out. Paramount Plus wants to be like HBO Max and bring movies home to you, Venom 2 looks boring as hell, and dont expect Drax to hang out forever.

    Tweet-length Reviews

Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse is an incredibly heavy, dark, and realistic action thriller that delivers on every level you would expect, and even more so where you don’t.  7/10 — Anthony

Solid if unspectacular action fare carried on the back of Michael B Jordan, who has cemented himself as a legitimate action star. 6/10 — Al

Episode 147: NNN XL in 4K
Switch XL rumors are swirling once again. PlayStation state of play dropped a Yuffie sized bomb. Pokemon is finally changing it up after 25 years. And some developers just dont want you to buy their game. Netflix is getting more anime, The Simpsons isnt going anywhere anytime soon, and the Arrowverse is back. The Hunt for Red October (1990)

The Hunt for Red October (1990)

A Russian submarine commander goes rogue in the most advanced and deadly nuclear submarine ever constructed, pursued by both the American and Russian navy.

James Bond. Dr. Alan Grant. Darth Vader. Jack Donaghy. The principal from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This one has it all. Welcome to the crescendo of Subtember! Our submariners James Combs and Tom Hanley are back and with us to talk about this classic war film is Steve Madeja, and animation producer and tour guide of New York's most interesting historical sites. Listen in as we discuss our collective lukewarm distaste of the Jack Ryan franchise and go down quite the rabbit hole talking about the ponytail-that-almost-was...

On almost every list of the best submarine movies ever made, this is often #1. Tom Clancy's most successful screen adaptation and a fantastic entry into John McTiernan's already illustrious career, The Hunt for Red October is everything you want in a submarine movie. Tension. Drama. Claustrophobia. A traitorous cook. And of course...competency-porn.

Geekly 118: Rest in Power, Chadwick Boseman

    Rest in peace, Chadwick Boseman.

We have a new episode, but it starts out heavy. We take a moment to mourn an actor who meant a lot to many people. This episode starts heavy in general. But, we do get to pop culture, and that's more lighthearted. There was a lot of game news on the table, and it's either rough, or just a little out there. Also, a little bit about cartoons and reboots. Eh. Be good to each other.

    Check it out!

    Explicit language on this one.
