Ep364: Triumphing Over Trauma with PTSD & Child Abuse Coach-Mentor Michael Unbroken

Ep364: Triumphing Over Trauma with PTSD & Child Abuse Coach-Mentor Michael Unbroken

Michael was born to a hyper-abusive drug addict mother who cut his finger off at 4 years old, a step-father you pray you never have, and a racist grandmother that pushed him into an identity crisis. By the time he was 9, his family was in poverty and often homeless all while being members of the Mormon Church.

At twelve, he was adopted by his grandmother and quickly turned to drugs and alcohol to survive the continuing abuse. Despite multiple learning disabilities and not graduating high school on
time, Michael found success in Corporate America in his early twenties. However, success only made
things worse. Michael became morbidly obese, high and drunk daily, and ultimately self-sabotaging everything around him. It was not until finding his inner power through his Mirror Moment and choosing to do whatever it took to work through childhood trauma that his life began.

Michael Anthony is the author of the best-selling book Think Unbroken and is a coach, mentor, and
educator for adult survivors of child abuse. Michael spends his time helping other survivors get out of "The Vortex" to become the hero of their own story and take their lives back. Michael hosts The Think Unbroken podcast, teaches at Think Unbroken Academy, and is on a mission to end generational trauma by giving survivors the tools to be the hero of their stories.

Against All Odds - The incredible Story of Dr. danyelle beal

Against All Odds - The incredible Story of Dr. danyelle beal

In this episode of Dreamers Believers & High Achievers I have Dr. danyelle beal join me in the studio.

I was completely in awe at what danyelle has achieved in her life. danyelle grew up believing that she was the product of her dysfunctional environment but something in her changed. danyelle realized that she could either repeat the past and go down the same path as her family or could change her future and the future of those she loved.

Trouble was danyelle never had a model to replicate, she had to shape her future from ground zero.

As danyelle shares her story you quickly realize that she is a woman of amazing resilience and tenacity.

Born to a mother who was in jail, she endured massive childhood trauma and is now achieving fantastic things in business and in life. You will be highly moved, and inspired by what this incredible woman is achieving.

Some aspects of this episode may be a trigger but a trigger warning is given prior to speaking about the subject.

I am sure you will come away for our conversation with a sense of admiration for Dr danyelle and the work that she is doing.

Edith Shiro - Turning Pain into Purpose & Transforming Trauma: Exploring Posttraumatic Growth | STM Podcast #170

On episode 170, we welcome Edith Shiro to discuss the five step model of post traumatic growth, what trauma is and the social and psychological contributions to PTSD, how culture silences victims, Alen and Leon’s struggles with emotional expression, the importance of turning to the right people for healing, why we need others to help us overcome our traumas, transforming from trauma as opposed to returning to baseline functioning, using podcasting to spread information we wish we had, how the body expresses and indicates a traumatic history, and Lady Gaga’s story as a prime example of post traumatic growth.

Dr. Edith Shiro is a clinical psychologist in private practice in Miami, Florida. She specializes in trauma and posttraumatic growth, holding space and guiding her patients to achieve greater potential and higher consciousness. Dr. Shiro is co-founder of the Trauma and Resilience Center, board member of the World Happiness Foundation, and an active member of Cadena International, providing humanitarian aid and disaster prevention worldwide. She has worked at the Clinic for Survivors of Torture at Bellevue Hospital, the Cambodian refugee clinic at Montefiore Medical Center, and the Human Rights Clinical Support Network at REFUGE, among others. Using her five-stage model, she offers a blueprint for all her patients to develop coping skills and resilience, and to achieve posttraumatic growth. Her newest book, available now, is called The Unexpected Gift of Trauma: The Path to Posttraumatic Growth.

Diagnosed with ADHD as an Adult and Surviving Narcissistic Abuse - Conversation with Courtney Carini

Diagnosed with ADHD as an Adult and Surviving Narcissistic Abuse - Conversation with Courtney Carini

Find her on: Tiktok at CourtneyCariniADHDDo you have a walking rainbow in your life? I do. Her name is Courtney. We met on the playground in first grade and have been friends ever since. Courtney is the funniest, smartest, kindest, most colorful person I know, and being able to record a conversation with her was pure magic!

Courtney and I have lived a lot of life together or parallel to each other. We survived a week in the woods with only Annie Lennox to listen to, multiple church camp trips to the Florida beaches, a trip to London and Paris that she won on The Ricki Lake Show, and many many things in between or since all of that.

In Part One of our conversation, Courtney shares her experience of being diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 38 and how she has been able to reinterpret her childhood in light of that diagnosis. We also go deep into our experiences with love, self-love, and narcissistic abuse. This episode is raw, funny, and--IMHO--a must-listen.
