They discuss the show’s portrayal of science and technology, its influence on real-world advancements—from Motorola's flip phones to the concept of warp drive—and its trailblazing shift from episodic to serial storytelling. They also explore the role of science advisories in making the show plausible, and how Star Trek modeled inclusivity and challenged societal stereotypes.

Mark A. Altman — showrunner of the TV series “Pandora,” writer/producer of the film “Free Enterprise,” and co-author of the bestselling “The Fifty-Year Mission: The Complete, Uncensored, Unauthorized Oral History of Star Trek: The First 25 Years.” Mark is also the co-host and producer of the podcast, “Inglorious Treksperts.”

André Bormanis — television producer, screenwriter, and author of “Star Trek: Science Logs.”  André was the science consultant on “Star Trek: The Next Generation”; “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”; “Star Trek: Voyager”; and “Star Trek: Enterprise.” André serves as science consultant and writer-producer on The Orville (Fox). He holds a BS in Physics.

Tom Vitale (moderator, Williams ’86) — Tom headed programming and production at the SciFi Channel for 20 years. He is currently a television and film writer/producer specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and horror/supernatural. He runs Vital Signs Entertainment and is the co-creator with Mark Altman of “Pandora.”

Live long and prosper! (Again!) This week, it's another Star Trek deep dive as Emily tells V the heartwarming, weep-inducing tale of the August Party, the first Star Trek fan con. With the cutest quotes and reminiscences in the world, and a wealth of people being NERDS to boot, this is a delightful event in fannish history and one we're glad to have gotten to learn about! Have you ever attended a fan con (as opposed to a commercial con)? Did you go to the August Party?? 

In this episode Kieran, Paul and I kick off #mysummerofstartrek with coverage of 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan' from director Nicholas Meyer. And 'what is #mysummerofstartrek' I hear you ask, why it's us covering all the 1980s Star Trek films over the coming month or two (maybe delving into some Trek TV too....).

Just as a bit of backstory to the ep, Paul and Kieran are long-time Trekkies while I am not (I make several X-Men comparisons in this episode as that was my franchise rather than this). Back in 2017 (I think) we covered 'Star Trek: The Motion Picture' as part of our 1970s coverage- that was the first time I had seen that film and likewise, this was my first watch of Wrath of Khan (I watched all the Prime Universe films just prior to recording this episode). So join us next time for.....  'Star Trek III: The Search for Spock'!

On nous avait déjà sorti un fils caché du chapeau pour le capitaine l’Enterprise mais c’était il y a 40 ans maintenant. Alors est-ce que pour les scénaristes de la saison 3 de Star Trek : Picard,  rejouer cette même carte va déboucher sur un coup de poker malheureux ?

Après deux saisons qui nous avait clairement déçu, pour la saison qui est déjà annoncée comme étant la dernière, il y a un nouveau capitaine en la personne de Terry Matalas qui est donc le nouveau showrunner pour ce qui sera la dernière aventure de l’amiral Jean-Luc Picard ! Mais pourra-t’il redresser la barre ?
