I’m so happy to have with me today one of my good friends and brothers Nathan Gardner. Known by most as Tuna, he’s a big man with an even bigger heart and one of the most entertaining guys I know. 

Listen in to this 3 part series as we find out a little more about Tuna and learn some great things about some topics that he’s passionate about. These topics include - morale injury, repeat exposure trauma, leadership, and caring for each other. Of course there are going to be funny stories sprinkled in throughout as well.

Sisters and business partners, Marti Lieberman and Pamela Lorden, own and operate The Mac Mart in Philadelphia. Although the venture began without any former training or background in the business, Marti started The Mac Mart to create a job for herself after graduating college, and was soon joined by her sister. The inspiration? A decadent mac-n-cheese that she made for her own graduation party was a huge hit, and food trucks were an up-and-coming trend at the time. Years later, the business has grown into multiple cart locations and a brick and mortar spot in center city...with a lot of happy mac and cheese lovers enjoying every cheesy bite!

We then climbed aboard the Moshulu off of Delaware Avenue in Philadelphia, speaking with the General Manager, Michelle Delp. Michelle knows all the in's and out's of the Moshulu, having worked there for 16 years, so when it comes to knowing the history and stories behind the Old cargo vessel she's certainly the perfect guide! After taking an optional champagne-toasted tour, you can enjoy some of the menu options like a raw bar, plentiful seafood options, along with steak, chicken, and more! And if you're looking to celebrate an event or holiday gathering--the Moshulu is the place to be! Misguided Fishing podcast focuses on saltwater fishing out of Oregon Inlet North Carolina. On this episode of Misguided Fishing Podcast Capt Dickie Harris of Fintastic Sportfishing joins us. Since Jack was Dickie's longtime mate he was on pretty good behavior and didn't hog the show. Fortunately, Dickie told us stories from old to new but saved one about Jack to keep him in line. Dickie has been fishing out of Oregon Inlet Fishing Center for 45 yrs. A lot of people I knew didn't even make it to 45 much less work the same job.  Dickie is a veteran of the sportfishing community and has the credibility to back it up.

It's been a few years since we last sat down and talked fishing with John. He's been busy managing and running two new boats in the "El Diablo" program. In this conversation John talks about his recent adventures in Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, and in his home waters off of Cape Cod. We talk a lot about offshore canyon fishing and discuss some new tactics that we would love to try if given the time and conditions. Last year, John and his crew won the MA Governors Cup Award for biggest yellowfin last year with a beautiful sickle fin yellow, and we hear the story behind that.

Always many laughs, beard appreciation, and great stories when hanging out with John. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did!

The IBU Biathlon World Championships in Oberhof are underway, with a U.S. Biathlon Team mixed with veterans and rookies. One of those newcomers, Vincent Bonacci, earned his spot with a strong season including an 11th in the sprint at the Open European Championships. The Utah native spoke with Heartbeat about his pathway in the sport and what he hopes to take away from his experience in Oberhof.

Joining us is our newest crew-member, deckhand, and good friend Ben Makaroff. Ben grew up on the South Shore of Massachusetts and has been fishing since childhood. He began his journey freshwater fishing, quickly progressed to saltwater, and has now made charter fishing his career path and tuna fishing his addiction. Ben is the epitome of a well rounded fisherman, waterman, and woodsman. Prior to joining us, he had over 15 years of experience in carpentry and electrical work, which translated nicely into maintaining charter boats/anything... Ben has been a great asset to our charter fleet, and with his help we were able to stay up and running throughout a 250+ trip season last year.

The 2022 Mass Bay Guides charter fishing season was excellent and one of our busiest to date. We saw incredible fishing all throughout our local waters.  Clients were passionate, funny, and a pleasure to have aboard the boats. Mother Nature also blessed us with good weather for most of the season, allowing us to be on the water consistently.

Our main focus in this two part podcast was to review our 2022 logbook and discuss what we experienced on our local waters around Massachusetts last season. Per usual, we get side tracked a bit telling stories and jokes.

We had a lot of fun on this one and we are officially in winter mode, and will be pushing out a ton of new content. It's hard to believe that we are already on Season 4 of the podcast.
