    117: Warriors of the Deep

    117: Warriors of the Deep

    “There should’ve been another way.”

Yup. But when you only have a couple of days, £37.50 and a two-man human centipede, you will inevitably end up with 1984’s Warriors of the Deep.

But the Doctor still manages to trade his cricket beiges for a daring new beige outfit and some temporal footwear, though Turlough misses out on an early airing of his budgie smugglers. Tegan’s troubles are more practical than sartorial, however, when she feels the gossamer weight of a sea base door on her lovely legs.

They also encounter the future’s unluckiest intern, a commander who’s a long way from his native 1970s and the leading lights of the power-bloc-which-cannot-be-named’s premier pantomime troop.

Throw in some sweat, smells, sloth-like Silurians and skew-whiff sea devils and it all starts to feel like the end of the world.

So did Jim and Martin take to the story like a Myrka to water or did it leave them drowning in dreck?

    Listen to find out.

    106: Terminus

    106: Terminus

    "What is this horrendous place?"

Well, Nyssa, it's Terminus - a place to which Bor was presumably drawn by nominative determinism.

It's a drab old hospital where the porters are metal, the doctors are Goths and the burglars are New Romantics.

The Doctor wins a fight, Nyssa loses her skirt and Tegan draws the short straw, what with Turlough staring at her posterior and the extras revealing her upper assets.

Did Olvir train at the Wayne Sleep Combat Academy?

Is the Doctor's creepy CCTV standard TARDIS issue?

Do the Vanir have enough dog poop bags to last until their next Ocado delivery?

And did Jim and Martin find Terminus to be a real tonic or some used Hydromel?

EP 60: July '17 latest Doctor Who news, series 10 reviews & the Valeyard

Episode 60 of the Doctor Who: Alhambra Podcast

Brett and Liam go over the passing of Trevor Baxter, who played George Litefoot on Talons of Weng-Chiang from the classic series, and in the same role in Big Finish audio series, Jago & Litefoot. We discuss the Facebook Fan Page reaction to Liam's questions to series 14.  Also, we discuss the passing of Debra Watling, who played Victoria during the Patrick Troughton Era.  Our conversation goes over the loss of this is to Doctor Who fandom and the lack of running commentaries on their DVD releases.  We also discuss the new Doctor's Daughter news soon to hit Big Finish.  A calm and levelheaded discussion about The Valeyard occurs.  The great series 10 of New Doctor Who is discussed and applauded, although there's one episode that was subpar, but Brett tries to defend it anyway.  The Face Book fan page "Wish List" is discussed, and we end on Doom Coalition v. Dark Eyes!

Stay tuned for our next episode which could be the complete series 10 of the new series of Doctor Who,  Big Finish review for the month of July Doctor Who, DW Spin-Offs, and other audios.

Throughout the review of "The Pilot" we drift on and off topic about Capaldi's regeneration, The Tenth Planet Cybermen, The First Doctor Companion Chronicle story with Steven Taylor "The Locked Room."

    EP 51: Louise Jameson interview

    EP 51: Louise Jameson interview

The Doctor Who: Alhambra Podcast is very fortunate to have Louise Jameson on the podcast for about an hours time.

We talk to her about acting, her time on Doctor Who in the 70's, her work as an actor, writer and director with Big Finish.  Some of the people she worked with, such as Virginia Hey (4th Doctor Adventures: White Ghosts; Farscape) and Sir John Hurt (The War Doctor - Series 4: Casualties of War).  Her time with Tom Baker in the 70's and some cast spoilers but no story line spoilers for a future Fourth Doctor Adventure featuring the Doctor and Leela.

We had a great time, and are very thankful for the time Louise Jameson took out of her busy schedule to appear on our podcast.

EP 48: Over produced podcast for December 2016 Doctor Who reviews

Episode 48 of the Doctor Who Alhambra Podcast, first official one with the new logo!

In this episode of the podcast, we get to hear how Liam (@djNezumi) is getting older, the River Song audios have given us a change of opinion, Brett (@Mavic_Chen) might have an unhealthy fixation on the Great British Bake-Off.  On the bright side, he no longer is rooting for Flip, the 6th Doctor's companion, to die.  Near the end of the podcast, Liam begins to whisper talk, perhaps he's baby sitting Legeon's new offspring.

Many of the news items we find off the amazing website: doctorwhonews.net.  We talk about the new Fantom Publishing: Who Talks, An Unearthly Child and Cyber 60s.  Doctor Who spin-off: CLASS will begin airing on BBC One, while those in the states get to wait until April.  We discuss the World Cup of Doctor Who Christmas Specials done Christmas day by @DoctorF0ever, Liam and I both disagree with many results (hostage of the moment reactions).

Big Finish titles and writers for the 6th series of the Fourth Doctor Adventures, Fourth Doctor Boxed sets for series 7, the box sets announcement for UNIT, Counter-Measures, 4th Doctor and Survivors.  The possibilities of Big Finish's main range being boxed sets.

    Reviews for December 2016:

MR #219 Absolute Power by Jamie Anderson; MR #220 Quicksilver by Matt Fitton. Both featuring Colin Baker and Miranda Raison, as the Doctor and Constance Clarke.  The Early Adventures #3.3 The Ravelli Conspiracy (revisited); #3.4 The Sontarans.  The Novel Adapations #10 Original Sin and #11 Cold Fusion.  Doctor Who Spin-Off Counter-Measures #6 series 1 of the New Series. Non-Doctor Who releases Dan Dare volume 1 and Dark Shadows - Haunting Memories.
