BLEEP GOT FREAKY aboard the USS Voyager, but BLEEP gets even freakier aboard the USS Cerritos after it's assigned to tow the famous ship to its final home as a museum piece. In this special bonus episode, Twitter/X's FanSince09 returns to discuss how Lower Decks deals with Star Trek's version of the trolley problem. He also uses this opportunity to soft launch a podcast he's been thinking about for a while -- which idea winds up being more grotesque? FanSince09's podcast idea or the blob of people created by all of the Tuvixing going on aboard the Cerritos? You be the judge.

DEEP LORE TREKKIES aren't the only ones who know about the episode where Captain Janeway straight up murdered a dude. Indeed, the one where a transporter accident merges Tuvok and Neelix has been the subject of philosophical and legal papers and years of social media debate -- but has it all added up to this one being worthy of the Star Trek canon? Is it marriage material? Joining Bryan and Kristen to help them decide this week is Twitter/X's FanSince09, who has never let this one fade from memory. It's a whole new theme month! SPLIT IN TWO.

AND! FanSince09 will hang around for one more episode with Bryan and Kristen -- is Lower Decks' followup to this famous Voyager episode, "Twovix," a Trek, Marry, or Kill? Keep your playlist running and find out. we've dropped two this week.

Spock tells us that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. Can we use this logic in determining the needs of an individual? Patrick and Amy discuss ENT's “Similitude” and VGR's “Tuvix," where both Sim and Tuvix have an overwhelming desire to live, yet their captains have different outcomes in mind for them.

Destroying the Caretaker, Killing Tuvix. attempted crew torture, not promoting Harry Kim, and breaking the Temporal Prime Directive. Captain Kathryn Janeway has had some outstandingly difficult command decisions to make with many often criticised by some within the fan base as poor decisions, and those same decisions applauded by others within the fan base.

In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Suzanne Williamson and Liam Smart, chat about Janeway’s command decisions and which they think were good and which they think were bad. They do not agree on one particular decision - surprise, surprise!

    Episode 39 - Two Dicks (S2 : E24)

Your podcast heroes confront Voyager’s most controversial entry and consequently descend into angry yelling. Is Tuvix’s genitalia situation as much a horror show as his hair? Why can’t 24th century spacemen make their own tacos? And most importantly why did the writers of this godforsaken show think it was cool to make everyone a murder monster for the last 11 minutes?

    Characters We Wanted More Of.

Star Trek: Voyager had no shortage of one-off characters that made a lasting impression on us, so much so that we wish that they had joined the Voyager crew, or at least that they would have become recurring characters. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Zachary Fruhling and Suzanne Williamson discuss one-off characters they wanted to see more of on Star Trek: Voyager.

    Tuvix Alternatives.

The second-season Voyager episode "Tuvix" featured some amazing acting on the part of actor Tom Wright as Tuvix, a transporter-created hybrid of Tuvok and Neelix, capturing the distinctive personality traits and mannerisms of both characters. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Suzanne Williamson and Zachary Fruhling imagine alternative Voyagercharacter hybrids besides Tuvok and Neelix. Which character traits would be most prominent, and which actors or actresses would best capture the personality traits and mannerisms of these alternative character hybrids?

    211: It's a Maelstrom

    Favorite Kes/Tuvok Moments.

Considering that Kes and Tuvok are perhaps the calmest, coolest, and most collected characters in Star Trek: Voyager, the moments they share together onscreen are remarkably volatile and intense! But despite this intensity, their friendship and working relationship are characterized by sincere trust, mutual respect, and admiration. Tuvok frequently serves as a mentor for Kes, guiding her as she explores and develops her unique mental abilities. And Kes, in turn, helps Tuvok balance his logic, his emotions, and his relationships with the rest of the Voyager crew. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts Zachary Fruhling, Suzanne Williamson, and Kay Shaw peer beyond the subatomic to share their favorite Kes/Tuvok moments in Star Trek: Voyager

To The Journey 105: Don't Forget the Orchid

    "Tuvix" and "Similitude" Comparison.

There are times when an idea is so good that you can't use it just once...right? Intentionally or not, the Trek writers have used similar plots for episodes of different series. Case in point: Enterprise's "Similitude" and Voyager's "Tuvix." Both spawn controversy about one's right to live, even if it means sacrificing another. The captains — Janeway and Archer — face grueling decisions surrounding that debate. Each circumstance ends with the death of someone. In this episode of To The Journey, Char and Tristan compare the similarities and differences between "Tuvix" and "Similitude" and determine if one episode executes the story better than the other.
