The Mountain Gallop 5K is part of the Mountain Festival activities, the T-Town Ride is a 18 or 40 mile bike ride, and the Brews on the Mountain Beer & Wine Festival is just what it sounds like. Rachel Parlier from Houchin Community Blood Bank (HCBB) joins the TehachaPod crew in studio and talks about donating blood, plasma and platelets. She explains why its important to donate on a regular basis, we talk about the needs of cancer patients and how they need our help to fight the disease. A local 17 year old Bakersfield Liberty High School student Tatum De Montmorency (#TeamTatum) is in the middle of a fight with leukemia a blood/bone marrow cancer. Tatum has received blood and platelets from Houchin during her journey. The City of Tehachapi partners with HCBB and the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District every two months on a mobile blood drive. Corey Torres the General Manager from the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Parks District (TVRPD) joins TehachaPod to talk about what recreation areas they are now able to open for the community. How they have tried to adapt to virtual events, and the strict guidelines being put in place for them to follow. They are able to offer Adventure Camp for kids, camping at Brite Lake and a few other fun things to do in Tehachapi.
