Is Angela Rayner really in trouble?

Police are re-examining claims Labour's deputy leader Angela Rayner may have broken electoral law more than a decade ago by failing to pay a capital gains tax worth around £2000. Is there a real story here? Is it about impropriety? Class? Big money vs. small money? And who’s behind it?

Later author of Autocracy Inc. Anne Applebaum on Donald Trump's plan to “end the Ukraine war“ and why it makes no sense.

Why Generation Rent are so angry

Why Generation Rent are so angry

Private rents are soaring, homes to rent are in steep decline, house building has stalled. No wonder young people are full of rage about their chances of getting onto the housing ladder.

On this week’s podcast Amol and Nick take a deep dive into what’s going wrong with housing in the UK – and what can be done to fix it.

They’re joined by Angela Rayner, Labour’s deputy leader, who will be tasked with fixing the housing crisis if Labour win the next general election. And they’re also joined by Ben Twomey, chief executive of Generation Rent, which campaigns to improve the housing system for young people.

Episodes of The Today Podcast land every Thursday and watch out for bonus episodes. Subscribe on BBC Sounds to get Amol and Nick's take on the biggest stories of the week, with insights from behind the scenes at the UK's most influential radio news programme.

TPP351: Who should property investors vote for in the general election?

TPP351: Who should property investors vote for in the general election?

This week’s episode of The Property Podcast is a pretty important one. As you should know by now, next week is the general election, and it’s kind of a big deal.

The manifestos have been flying around all over the place with the parties promising this, that and the other. And to be honest, it can get quite confusing.

So what do each of the party policies mean for property investors? Well, that’s exactly what Rob & Rob are going to dive into and dissect in today’s episode. Sit back, relax and take notes as the guys look into each of the following policies:

    • Conservative
    • Labour
    • Lib Dems
    • Green Party

It will certainly be one of the more important podcast episodes we’ve done this year and it will definitely help if you’re more confused than ever on who to vote for.

This week for Hub Extra, Rob B has a book recommendation. ‘How to Be Like Walt: Capturing the Disney Magic Every Day of Your Life’. Not only does it tell the story of Walt Disney and his journey of how he created the Disney brand, but you’ll learn so much more!

There are sections that discuss religious views throughout the book, which some people took offence to, so you might want to skip over these bits. But Rob B connected to the story on both a personal and business level, and even got some inspiration from it - maybe it’ll lift your spirits too.
