In this third episode, Arnie and Fred ask the question, Am I Truthful? Does not being truthful hinder one's prayers? Paul has a lot to say about this. We look at those passages. We then ask 5 questions that one can use in their self- examination of whether or not one is guilty of this sin. We then ask the question, Am I Vulgar? Jesus discusses this sin as does Paul. Jesus is specific in telling us how important our speech is. Again, we discuss those passages and ask a couple of questions that illustrate this major problem in our society. It is, though, worth considering what is appropriate for public, mass communications over primetime television. There once were decency standards. No more. And pundits to argue the Culture Wars are an invention of Puritans and prudes say more about themselves--they have little or no moral foundation--than they do the conservatives or Christians they typically attack. The 65th Grammy Awards saw Harry Styles take home the award for "Album of the Year" for his record "Harry's House". The biggest winner of the night, however, might have been Reina, a 78-year-old Canadian great-grandmother, who got the opportunity to announce the award and hand Harry the trophy. The Grammys invited a group of fans to come on stage to advocate for their favorite artists, and Reina was the one chosen to announce Harry's win. In his acceptance speech, Harry thanked his fans and collaborators. On the other hand, German-born pop singer Kim Petras made Grammys history by becoming the first transgender woman to win the award for best pop duo/group performance. Kim's win was a historic moment not just for her but also for the transgender community. Finally, Viola Davis joined the EGOT club by winning her first Grammy.
Wooo it's 2023 and our new year's resolution is to record WAY MORE EPISODES of Rate My Bop!! So excited to kick off the year with a review of Sam Smith's fourth studio album "Gloria" - there was a lot to talk about with this album so be prepared for tears, laughter and plenty of social commentary on this deep dive.

Episode 26: REVENGE
30 years ago May 19th 1992, KISS released their 16 studio album and 24th overall. Having suffer the tragic loss of their beloved drummer Eric Carr the year prior KISS was determined to get Revenge and get their heads back in the game. A new look for the band that was more akin to black and leather look of the past welcomed new member and drummer Eric Singer. Formally of Badlands, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and Paul Stanley's solo touring band to name a few joined the legendary band. Kulick, Simmons, Stanley and Singer sought out reclaim their rock metal roots with force. With producer Bob Ezrin at the help the hoped to achieve that admits the changing of the music landscape. Blazing guitars, ponding drums, with Stanley's soring vocal and the "return" of Gene as some might say. Gene was fully committed to the band fully with no outside projects pulling him away this time. he even grew a goatee to complete the look. This is the best look for the band post make up. would the album deliver? That's what we intend to discuss. Nick, Nikko, & Rob break down the tracks on the album, the production and what makes this album worthy of the title... REVENGE. Happy 30th Anniversary!

Last week, we learned about Lori Vallow and her extreme beliefs regarding the end of the world. This week, we focus on Chad Daybed. Chad was born into a good family with deep roots in the LDS community and faith. However, he had an odd obsession with death. So much so that he would often try to engage with spirits of the dead and claimed to receive guidance from his dead grandfather. As an author, he was able to spread his message and soon became a partially popular draw at LDS conferences and speaking events. Sadly, it was his incredible focus on the end-of-days that would invite nothing but misery and darkness into people's lives.
