    Episode 10 Description:
On Episode 10 of DiploChatz, we are joined by Chloe Hoy-Bianchi, NNIC Office Manager and World Refugee Day Celebration coordinator! Chloe has worked with NNIC's refugee clients since the end of 2019, first as a community volunteer. She joined the NNIC team in November 2020, working with the refugee families in multiple capacities: as a volunteer and donations coordinator and by developing and for a time subsequently running the Refugee Youth Mentoring Program.

Segment 1: During the first segment of Episode 10, Chloe chatz with DiploChatz about the daily positive impact that the Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC) has on the lives of many refugee families in Northern Nevada, USA.
Segment 2: During our second segment, Chloe chatz about the World Refugee Day Celebration that NNIC has worked hard to put together,  which is scheduled for June 18, 2022. You will learn about the meaning behind this celebration. We want to note that this celebration would not have been possible without the support and love of the entire community.

    What is World Refugee Day?
World Refugee Day is an international day designated by the United Nations to honor refugees around the globe. It falls each year on June 20 and celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.

Faron Hand: Meatball (Former Nevada Wolf Pack Star & Pro)

Faron Hand: Meatball (Former Nevada Wolf Pack Star & Pro)

It’s a special episode for all of our local Nevada Wolf Pack fans. Faron Hand AKA “Meatball" is in the house! The former Big West player of the year shares his basketball story with us and some fun memories about his days playing in Reno.

Faron Hand is from Philly and played in a special era of basketball where he played against familiar names like Rasheed Wallace, Aaron Mckee, Marc Jackson and many others. He went on to play for Nevada where he was the 1996-97 Big West Player of the year and helped put the Pack on the map. He shares great stories about growing up in Philly, The Sonny Hill League, his journey to Nevada and time with the Wolf Pack, his experience overseas, coaching, the story behind earning the nickname “Meatball” and MUCH more.

This was an honor to learn from one of the Philly legends and Nevada greats. Plenty of laughs in this one with all of the Reno nostalgia and some great hoop stories. One thing is for damn sure… we need to get Faron Hand in the Reno Nevada Hall of Fame. Nevada was lucky to have him and we need to make this happen!

    Thank you Faron “Meatball” Hand!

Mo Charlo: Nevada Alumni & TBT Champion

Mo Charlo: Nevada Alumni & TBT Champion

Yo we got Mo! Mo Charlo is in the house and boy is it a fun one. This is an episode that our basketball junkies and local listeners will absolutely love. The former Nevada Alumni and Reno Bighorn was a fan favorite and after spending some time with him we definitely see why. Grab a cold one and enjoy this ride down memory lane as we learn a whole lot more about Mo and his journey.

Charlo was a major contributor for those Nevada teams that really helped jumpstart and put the program on the map. After a few NCAA tournament appearances, Charlo went on to play in the G-League which included a good run with the Reno Bighorns. He also spent some time overseas, and now is coming fresh off a TBT championship win! Not bad for a kid from Eureka, CA!

Our time with Mo was awesome. We loved talking Nevada hoops, Bighorns, his experience playing in the bubble at the TBT, and so much more. He was such a fun guest and we know that everyone (especially our local listeners) will love this one!

    Thanks Mo!

Hit us up for that Brewskie!

David Wood: Former Nevada Wolf Pack & NBA Player

David Wood: Former Nevada Wolf Pack & NBA Player

We have our very first Nevada Wolf Pack alumni in the house! David Wood takes the time to hang out with us and talk about his playing days both at Nevada and in Professional Basketball. Wood has quite the basketball journey… a journey that took him all around the world with 8 different NBA teams in a long, successful basketball career.

Wood is the definition of a “glue guy”. The stat box may not wow you, but what doesn’t show on the stat sheet is very eye-opening for those who had the privilege to watch him and play with him.

This is not your everyday success story, but it is one of the most interesting and inspiring ones that you will ever hear and a story that proves your faith can take you a long way. Wood played with and against some of the best to ever do it; not just in the NBA but also overseas in arguably the best era of basketball. The stories and knowledge dropped in this episode made this truly one of the most enjoyable experiences we have had as basketball fans and we are pretty sure that you will feel the same.

    Enjoy!
