NFTs, the Metaverse, and MOCA ft. Colborn, Untitled XYZ, and 0xBEW

Happy to be back for another episode of GWY, and this week we’re shifting our focus to NFTs, the Metaverse, and the Museum of Crypto Art aka MOCA! I’m joined by Yunt Capital member 0xBEW as we sit down with Colborn Bell, a founder of MOCA named one of the top twenty people in crypto by Cointelegraph, and Untitled XYZ, a metaverse architect of MOCA and NFT artist. We break down what exactly the metaverse is, how NFTs can be one of the most important elements of crypto adoption, and how MOCA is reinventing the art world. If you don’t know what the Metaverse is or wonder if NFTs are just a fad, then this is the episode for you!

Ep 4 - Sault - Untitled [Black Is]

Ep 4 - Sault - Untitled [Black Is]

This Is Not Happening sees our fourth episode in October talk about mysterious  US/UK collective Sault's 3rd album, Untitled [Black Is]. It's an album we've had on our radar for a few months, so much so they released their 4th before we recorded! It's a shimmering work of  modern soul, playing with the genres, and we loved digging into it.

We'll also each be bringing our own take on afro-centric music from across the amazing continent, and deciding again if we spin it, or bin it. The four cuts evoked all sorts of back and forth:

Guy:  Joey Haarstrup - Wake Up Your Mind
Nolan: Steve Monite, Frankie Francis - Only You / Hafi Deo (Frankie Francis Disco Jam Edit)
Joey: Francis Bebey - The Coffee Cola Song
    David: Ensen Dhaif - Emel

This album of the month and all our music discussions over the last ten years can be found on the blog at www.thisisnothappening.net, which will run alongside the podcast choices and much, much more. So check them out so to see what we like and where we clash, and comment if something catches your eye. We'd love to see what you think.

Episode #5 will see us reviewing the latest album from Sufjan Stevens. The Ascension is an opus that will keep us talking for sure, and will land before the end of November.

Everything is a negotiation: Navigating a New Lease

Everything is a negotiation: Navigating a New Lease

When it comes to a new restaurant lease, everything is a negotiation. Your terms presented at signing have the power to dramatically shape your business. Whether it be Tenant improvements, Term lengths, Concession, Backout clauses for permit approvals and more, it is not a decision to made quickly or alone.

Today’s Guests are Tracy Malechek-Ezekiel and Arjav Ezekiel of Birdie’s Austin, a forthcoming neighborhood cafe on the East side of Austin, TX. Tracy and Arjav have an impressive roster of experience including Del Posto, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Hill and Untitled. Last we spoke with them they were in negotiations on their 5th space of serious potential.

Opening Soon  is powered by Simplecast.

Episode 102: Suzanne Cupps (232 Bleecker, New York City)

Episode 102: Suzanne Cupps (232 Bleecker, New York City)

Chef Suzanne Cupps stepped out on her own in a big way this week, with her new 232 Bleecker restaurant in New York City. The launch comes after Suzanne's years with Union Square Hospitality Group, as executive chef of Untitled at The Whitney, and before that, a member of the kitchen brigade at Gramercy Tavern. A career-changer, Suzanne also cooked at Anita Lo's Annisa for several years. A few months back, while simultaneously winding down at Untitled, and ramping up at 232 Bleecker, the first full-service restaurant from Dig Food Group, Suzanne sat down with Andrew to discuss her life and career to date, and the evolution of her vegetable-forward style.

Untitled [Do you still remember: falling stars]

Do you still remember: falling stars,
how they leapt slantwise through the sky
like horses over suddenly held-out hurdles
of our wishes—did we have so many?—
    for stars, innumerable, leapt everywhere;
    almost every gaze upward became
wedded to the swift hazard of their play,
and our heart felt like a single thing
beneath that vast disintegration of their brilliance—
and was whole, as if it would survive them!

    Heart for the City

    Heart for the City

    Sunday, November 24, 2019

Here's Pastor Ryan's 2019 Heart for the City message.

We haven't been called to build the Church, Jesus does that; we've been called to establish the Kingdom as the church.

We aren't trying to get the entire city into the church but the entire church into the city.

    Rebuild
    Renew
    Restore

    Going Nowhere, Fast

    Going Nowhere, Fast

    Sunday, November 3, 2019

On Sunday, Pastor Ryan dives into the story of Joseph and how God used the season of the prison to prepare him for the promise.

What do we do when we follow the Spirit of God and it seems like we're not going anywhere? While we're praying to be delivered from wilderness seasons could he be using them to deliver us?

    A Holy Disruption

    A Holy Disruption

    Sunday, October 13, 2019

This week, Sam Leoganda encourages us on the moments in life when things seem unclear. Sometimes the Holy Spirit presents situations that confound us and offend our minds. The purpose is to help us confront and correct what we really believe. Disruption is not a threat, but an invitation. The promise of the future that God has for us is too grand and beautiful for God to cater to our comfort. There is a better reality that God wants to give us but we must let go of our old ways before we can experience the new.

    John 16:12-13 NIV

As we continue our series, "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts", Hans and Tiffany Vlasveld tag team and bring a message on purity of the heart, a message they have lived well as a married couple. We are made pure not by our own merit, but through Jesus; and by grace we are able to see God with full clarity.

    Main passages

    Insights for Intimacy

    Insights for Intimacy

    Sunday, June 30, 2019

In following Jesus, we’ve been called into relationship with him. Unfortunately, we can miss the call to relationship and fall into religion by trying to figure out God without knowing his heart. Pastor Ryan gives some insights for intimacy as we pursue the heart of God.

    God’s Heart is
    Learned in INTIMACY and
    Calibrated in COMMUNITY
So that it can RESONATE in the city

    In My Name

    In My Name

    Sunday, May 19, 2019

    Pastor Ryan Johnson

Faith is the entry point to our walk with God but it's also the means by which we engage heaven for the miraculous. We've been given permission by Jesus to pray for whatever we want and he promises to respond - what's the catch, could this be true? Pastor Ryan walks us through Joshua 10 and John 14-15 as we find that Jesus desires more than just strick obedience but friendship - and from the place of friendship comes opportunity to pray "sun stand still" prayers.

    Main Passages:
    Joshua 10:8-14
    John 14:13-14
    John 15:7-8, 14-16

What The World Is Asking For

What The World Is Asking For

    Sunday, March 10, 2019

    Mike Cruz

This week, Mike Cruz from the Stirring in Redding, California preaches on influencing the world through our intimate knowing and experience of God. In a climate of inauthenticity, people are longing for the truth.

"The world is not asking for our theology, they're looking to see if God is real."

"Jesus is the final crescendo of God. He's the final word of what God wants to say to the earth."

    Main passages

    • Matthew 17:8 NKJV
    • Proverbs 9:10 TPT
