    Urban Ministry (part 1)

    Urban Ministry (part 1)

Urban ministry is unique in Lutheran ministry and provides DCEs with an opportunity to challenge and stretch how and what you feel is important in ministry.  Within the urban setting there are many similarities to ministry in other places, but also different in many respects. This month's conversation is the first part of two with DCEs Haley Davisson from Trinity Downtown in Houston, TX and Andrea Roettjer from Trinity Lutheran, St. Louis, MO.  As you listen to the podcast consider the types of members you have in your congregation and how you meet their needs.   Also, what do you think about this statement, the greatness of urban ministry is the honesty in conversations that is sometimes not found in suburban churches.

We hope you enjoy the sample of this episode and look forward to sharing another sample of the remaining conversation in a few weeks.

The Bible and the World Class City

The Bible and the World Class City
Ray Bakke is a gifted teacher, author and leader in the area of urban ministry. He is the founder of International Urban Associates. When ministering in Chicago, IL, Ray read an article claiming that the Bible preaches rural life and condemns the urban metropolis. This spurred him on a lifelong conquest to find "a theology as big as Chicago". These are his findings that proved to him that God has a plan for the cities of our world.

    Introduction to My City

    Introduction to My City
Jordan Taylor has served as the Pastor of Calvary Wallingford since June 2011. Previously Jordan was Administrative Pastor at Calvary Fellowship and Director of Calvary Chapel Bible College Seattle in Mountlake Terrace. Each Pastor has a grab bag of facts about the city where he is ministering. But what cannot be expressed through numbers on a wrap sheet is the heart one has for his city. God has given each Pastor a divine insight and vision for where He has placed them, it is important for ministers to take the time to walk through that insight in a purposeful way.
