Rat Camp and the 17 HMR
The 17 HMR is old enough to vote! We have been shooting the 17 HMR for 21 years. We talk with Justin Aamodt who has probably heard more 17 HMR fired than any other person alive. Justin and his wife, Nikki, are the owners of Diamond A Guides, based near Crane, Oregon, where they help control the population of the Belding’s ground squirrel, otherwise known as the sage rat – keeping the alfalfa safe for livestock. Every spring we go to rat camp and almost everyone uses the 17 HMR to the tune of 500 rounds per day per person.
