    CORE TOPICS + DETAILS:

    [12:21] - A Message for the Haters

Don’t like social media? This is for you.

Whether you’re a speaker who doesn’t care about social media or simply isn’t very good at it, it’s time to change your mindset. Social media isn’t some “other” thing that’s separate from your speaking. It’s just another room, another stage — one that has the potential to reach millions of people. When you’re on social media, you should be every bit as “you” as you are when you’re onstage. It’s an extension of your brand, your message, and your purpose.

[13:08] - Finding Your Voice & Your Place

Master social media by mastering yourself

Finding your footing on social media is about being honest with yourself, rather than trying to fit yourself to whatever is the “it” platform at the moment. Where are you most comfortable? Where is your audience likely to be? Which platforms do you enjoy the most? Start there, and then hone in on what your unique voice really is. Trying to chase content trends is often a losing game, because by the time you’ve imitated them, a new trend has taken their place.

But authenticity will always be in style.

    [14:17] - Stocking the Refrigerator

We get out of social media what we put in

Many people avoid social media because they consider it toxic. They don’t want to be fed a stream of content that will make them feel insecure, unhappy, and as if the rest of the world is doing better than they are. But social media gives us what we put in — like stocking a refrigerator. If we seek out content that’s relatable, inspiring, and positive, then the algorithm will give us more of it. If we put fruit in the fridge, then guess what we’ll find when we open it up?

[20:59] - Embrace Our Algorithm Overlords

You can’t control what takes off. Focus on what you can control.

It can often be frustrating when you see a post or piece of content by someone else get picked up by “the algorithm” and make a massive impact, while your high-quality content is getting ignored.

Our experts’ advice? Let go of that frustration. Control what you can control: your output. If you continue to put out quality content that connects with people, eventually you’ll have something hit. You just have to be patient.

    SHOW CREDITS:

    Dream Boldly with Luke Fraser

    Dream Boldly with Luke Fraser

Luke Fraser has travelled the world but proudly still lives in the same Brisbane postcode where he grew up.

CEO of Howard Smith Wharves, Queensland President of The Property Council of Australia and a passionate advocate for his hometown, Luke is proud of the identity Brisbane embraces as its own; and identity shaped by the people, climate and lifestyle.

While Howard Smith Wharves is now one of Brisbane’s must-visit destinations, it wasn’t always smooth sailing for Luke and his team. When the site officially opened to the public in late 2018, no one could predict the global disruption and decimation that would follow a little over 12 months later.

In this episode of Dream Boldly, host Adam Brunes chats to Luke about risk, reward and renewal as they explore the journey of turning a derelict wharf into an iconic Brisbane destination where Luke and his team work to balance commercial targets with a genuine commitment to sustainability.

Hear Luke’s views on a Brisbane that has matured into a metropolitan city, ready to own and tell its own story about who it is to the rest of the world.

My Analytics Are Terrible - What’s the End Game?

My Analytics Are Terrible - What’s the End Game?

I recently received a comment from a listener wondering what the end game was for continually publishing content given that my metrics and analytics are pretty bad on some of the platforms.  So I wanted to answer their question and explain the big picture of my entire content marketing strategy.

This podcast and the YouTube version haven’t quite gotten the traction that I know it will eventually will.  Even with daily publishing, the numbers are only just recently inching forward. Givens this, the question then was, where does the revenue come from?  And why keep going if there’s no perceived progress being made?

I’ve addressed progress in past episodes so let me talk about the big picture.

First, my network marketing business is my primary income and has been since 2013.  Being in the top ten of the company the entire time, I’ve had the luxury of pouring myself fully into learning and exploring my interests — one of those things being content marketing.

Second, the platform that is currently yielding the most return is Facebook.  So outside of that, I’m still very much learning the ins and outs of the other platforms: YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn.

And this accounts for why the analytics in those platforms aren’t as advanced as one might hope.   Also too, understand that I’ve only really been publishing content on these platforms consistently since Sept 1.  So the reality is that I’m still very early in the game.

Lastly, the other main reason for continually publishing content despite slow results is that it’s an educational process for me.  Yes I want views and likes and subscribers and monetization.  But more than that I want to learn.  And the most effective way I learn is in the doing.

So it’s a growth and expansion of self.  It’s a developmental goal.  As we talked about in yesterdays episode, achievement is so much more effective when you have this in place.
