In this episode of Personally Speaking, Msgr. Jim Lisante is joined by popular Filipino actress and singer Vina Morales. Vina makes her debut on Broadway in the musical “Here Lies Love” playing the role of Aurora Aquino. The immersive disco musical is based on the real story of Filipino First Lady Imelda Marcos, whose husband Ferdinand Marcos was the 10th president of the Philippines and ruled as dictator for 20 years. Vina has been in more than 40 films and prime time soap operas and she’s released 14 albums. She talks about her life, her career, family, being discovered at the age of nine by her parish priest, and the Catholic faith and values that mean the most to her.

The “fight or flight response” is an automatic physiological reaction to an event that is perceived as stressful or frightening. The perception of threat activates the sympathetic nervous system and triggers an acute stress response that prepares the body to fight or flee.

 Prey animals predictably choose flight over fight, while predators often choose the latter.

 But even the peaceful rabbit will respond with a purposely vicious attack when threatened with death.
