A Classical Education Available To All: Kurtis Indorf on the expansion of Great Hearts Online National Academy

One of the high-quality virtual learning platforms that I am especially enthusiastic about is Great Hearts, which is expanding this year into a national online private academy with a Classical education focus.

A network of public charter and tuition-based private schools and microschools, with both brick-and-mortar and virtual offerings, Great Hearts is the largest provider of liberal arts classical education in the country, serving more than 26,000 students at 33 schools across the US.

Our guest today is Kurtis Indorf, Chief Innovation Officer for Great Hearts America, and the Founder and President of Great Hearts Nova.

A High-Quality, Purpose-Driven Online School: Founder Michael Strong on creating The Socratic Experience

A High-Quality, Purpose-Driven Online School: Founder Michael Strong on creating The Socratic Experience

Today's guest is Michael Strong, a longtime education entrepreneur and innovator and now founder of The Socratic Experience, an online school that emphasizes personalized and purpose-driven education, which I highly recommend.

Michael is the author of the 2009 book, Be the Solution: How Entrepreneurs and Conscious Capitalists Can Solve All the World's Problems, which includes a Foreword by John Mackey, the cofounder and former CEO of Whole Foods Market, with whom Michael has collaborated on initiatives related to conscious capitalism and entrepreneurship. Michael is also the author of The Habit of Thought: From Socratic Seminars to Socratic Practice, and we’ll hear more about what that looks like in his new online school focused on Socratic principles.

Virtual Schools Moving Forward - E047

In this episode, we are diving into the topic of what virtual schools could be post-pandemic. We'll share some ideas on how virtual schools could work going forward and how we should plan for it effectively. This stemmed from a post on Twitter where the Ontario Government is proposing that virtual models are here to stay.

Returning to School with Principal Donald Clayton

Returning to School with Principal Donald Clayton

Donald's goal is to be the most welcoming school in America. If kids know they are wanted and welcome, they will be socially and mentally better and happier.

Teachers, by nature, are planners, but with the times right now, the country is early in the virus and late to be planning the fall schedule of virtual and in-person classes.

How do we allow visitors to our school, keep kids protected and safe, and still be welcoming?

Donald walks through the "how" we do things may change, but the "why" we do them is what matters.

The amount of use of screen time by students could have some long term effects of having it readily available without a purpose of using it. How often are we intentional with our time when we are using screens?
