Watering Seeds of Compassion Steph Bovis

Watering Seeds of Compassion Steph Bovis

Jenn speaks to Singapore-based yin yoga, meditation teacher, host, and voice-over artist Steph Bovis. We talk about navigating career changes and how all your experiences at the end of the day sum up to what you do. How accumulating emotions and energy results in an awakening period where some of us go on our eat, pray, love journey to acknowledge and nourish ourselves. Why finding space to work on self-love and self-compassion is key in our growth and being a kinder human being. Steph also walks us through the RAIN meditation technique by Tara Brach where she encourages people to look into this if they find themselves in need of watering those seeds of compassion within.

    About Steph:

Stephanie's meditation journey began in 2012 when she joined a community called Satsanga, founded by one of her first yoga and meditation teachers, Amber Sawyer. She completed her Active Meditation Teacher Training in 2015, and has since shared Osho Active Meditations at festivals (Wonderfruit, Garden Beats) and also online through various partnerships. You can expect a nourishing, nurturing journey during her classes. She hopes to offer her students a brief moment of calm in their lives, and will hopefully equip them with the tools so that their practice can continue on. Stephanie also specializes in yin yoga, a slower paced class that focuses on increasing flexibility in the body, as well as providing a gateway to practicing breathwork and meditation. She is currently enrolled in a two year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program led by world renowned meditation teachers, Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield. She will graduate in 2023.

Jayne Amelia Larson - Losing a Loved One to Suicide and The Aftermath

Jayne Amelia Larson - Losing a Loved One to Suicide and The Aftermath

Jayne Amelia Larson is an actress and voice-over artist, a creative content producer, and the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir Driving The Saudis published by Simon & Schuster. When she was a young teen she lost her eldest brother to suicide.  She realized almost 40 years later that she had not dealt with the grief until she started writing her novel, Solving For X.  It is about the painful aftermath of a son suicide in the shell-shocked family left behind and his sister’s search to make sense of his decision to take his young life.

    In this episode we discuss:

    • How shame, guilt, and isolation played into her experience after her brother took his life
    • How societies stigmas/misperceptions impacted her grief
    • What she and her family did to cope
    • Why it wasn’t okay to talk about how he died and how she pretended it didn’t happen
    • Why it took her 40 years to deal with her grief
    • The self-care tools she practices today
    • What her grief looks like now versus when he took his life
    • Why if she would have addressed the grief earlier on, her life would have turned out better
    • How the novel she just finished writing was a healing tool to move through her grief
    • What she wants people to know, who are grieving a loss of a loved one to suicide

OSMinterview! Richard Epcar @ Momocon 2018

OSMinterview! Richard Epcar @ Momocon 2018

So, back in 2012 (?!), Basil once told Kevin that he really needed to go to an interview with Richard Epcar. And Kevin did, and a wonderful time was had. Well, John was also there in 2012. And since he had the chance to interview Richard Epcar again, John leapt at the chance. That was at Momocon 2018, and this is that podcast.

Also in case you were wondering whom Richard Epcar is, he's a lot. Of voices, I mean. He has done a bunch of them! Lately you'd recognize his vocal talents bringing to life Ansem, from the Kingdom Hearts series. There was like, three of those game? So anyway, he has also voiced Raiden from the latest Mortal Kombat series of games, Joseph Joestar from the Jojo's that everyone (rightly) loves, Batou in all the Ghosts in the Shells that matter, and just whole lot of things. There is a very high chance that he done something you love, and he may just be the reason why!
