Episode 106: Atlanta Child Murders
Atlanta, Georgia was a deadly place between July of 1979 and May of 1981. A serial murderer was targeting black children, teenagers, and young adults. A 23 year old photographer named Wayne Williams was tried and convicted of the murders of Nathaniel Cater and Jimmy Ray Payne. Investigators linked Williams to 19 of the other victims, though he was only convicted of the murders of Cater and Payne. Williams has maintained his innocence, and has claimed that police covered up evidence of KKK involvement. Some of the families of the victims also believe that Williams was a scapegoat. In our latest episode, we will dive deep into the complex case of the “Atlanta Child Murders.”
