Raise your hand if you're fatigued by superhero stuff. Ok, put your hands down, because WE DON'T CARE! Folklore has a unique twist on a worn and well-traveled genre that's well worth checking out. After hearing about their greatest fears (mummies vs. the darkness, FIGHT) and a quick news update about a series option for Gunnerkrigg Court, the guys offer their opinions on this highly-kinetic story.

This episode's title is also the name of the Rudy Schwartz Project instrumental near the beginning, after the LeMur collages. (All collages in this episode are by Mr. F. LeMur.) We get music new and old, respectively, by The Slot Rods and Dr. Onan Canobite, plus a Lonesome Cowboy Dave classic, "The President's on the Phone," from three Presidents ago. The talk parts were mostly recorded on July 4th of the so-called 2019, on location at the cult compound where the X-Day Drill was held. Dr. Hal, Dr. Philo Drummond, and Rev. Ivan Stang, presiding, along with Rev. Lord Angry Larry. A couple of Brother Russell's prank calls to Christian stations (as "Melba") are referenced and included. There is much detailed discussion of the greatest of the worst movies, as well as of Doc Savage and his son Dork.

What are the holidays without Slack and reruns? Sappy, nostalgia-provoking reruns on TV are what Christmas is all about, right? Plus, it gives us a break. This is the hoary old annual traditional Xmas Re-Rerun of #867 (and 921 and 1026, 1077, 1129, 1236, 1338, 1497, 1549, 1602, 1654, 1705 etc.), which was itself a condensation of some ancient year's 3-show "Best of Xmas Sickness" compilation, which were themselves the concentrated best-of from 15 years' worth of previous Xmas SubGenius and other Xmas weirdo collections, going back to the show's beginning in 1985 at KNON, Dallas. Includes over 66 separate tracks/songs/bits! And no, not one bit has been changed in all these years. Now that's Slack!

This is one of those mash-ups of three very different live SubGenius shows and a bunch of weird music and nicely tortured noises. There's also an actual new 10-minute Written Stang Rant, "Sorry, Non-Boomer" (albeit only partially written by Stang), which reveals "Bob's" revised SubGenius slogans for older SubGeniuses. We premiere two GREAT new songs from The Rudy Schwartz Project, including the brainworm "Dead Nazi by the Side of the Road" as well as a new Slot Rods/Angry Larry surfpunk thrashstramental. It's the Battle of the Buzz with Lonesome Cowboy Dave calling in and making his own reality, intercut with a 22X-Day session with the Puzzling Evidence Show stalwarts, Dr. Hal and Philo Drummond (minus Puzzling Evidence himself). Dr. Hal, Dr. Drummond and Rev. Stang have been doing live SubGenius radio for so long that they could do it in their sleep, and this recording from July 3, "2019," at the 22X-Day Drill, may well prove it, even though the three old pros seem to be fighting constantly and perhaps fighting sleep as well. (In fact all three are stone deaf and talking in their sleep.) After weeks of turmoil, finishing the strenuous final evacuation of the Cleveland Slackermansion in Ohio and the panicky exodus to Stang Ranch in Texas, we were finally able to do a good old new-fashioned all-talk new show with Lonesome Cowboy Dave. In fact, that's all this episode is: one hour-long conversation (plus Internet-only end plugs and propaganda). Revelations include the Church's face-eating chimp on Prozak (Professor Yeti), what it's like to be peein' mad while standing on the third rail, the oui wee Wei wee-wee-way, and how, if you act like a jerk, you're only satirizing other jerks, so it's okay.

And, seriously, our Cleveland house is officially on the market and would be a killer deal for a young family, or an old art bum, with modern electrical needs and walking distance to everything necessary.

This episode is another of those legendary "lost" radio hours from the 2017 20 X-Day Drill that neither Stang nor the Robo-Stang had heard until this week. (Long sordid story.) It starts off a bit lackadaisically but after about the halfway point Dr. Argus Faux raises the ante and gets things pretty fired up. "Cast" includes Dr. Hal, Rev. Fanboy, Rev. Peas, Rev. Eggplant, Dr. Faux, and Dr, Shoggoth. Listening to this recording two years after it was recorded made old Rev. Stang very proud indeed of his future replacements. And a bit jealous.

"What wrestling is to violence, and what pornography is to sex, The Church of the SubGenius is to religion." -- Onan. This is one of those rare episodes that proves that smart SubGeniuses actually exist, or at least SubGenii who SEEM very smart. That's because it's mostly Uncle Onan Canobite and Dr. Hal, although Stang and Rev. Fanboy have important bit parts. The discussion is much loftier than listeners might be used to. This "talk show" part was recorded in 2017 at the 22nd X-Day Drill, known as "20 X-Day." (The SubGenius Event Numbering System can be challenging to beginners and geniuses.) At the head and tail of the brainy discussion are brand new experimental (or just plain mental) earhole-kissing songs by The Liberty Tubes, Fat Little Bastard and Superhornet.

A bit of old Media Barrage leads to discussions of: Cornstarch and St. Ken Kesey aka Rev. Hardly Visible. Tiny Andy Warhol vs. Jim Long at the 1970 USA Film Festival. Michael Peppe's clumsiness and brilliance such as BehaviorMusic. The smell of old and new movie film. Texas climate control. Pappy's timing. Why no X-Day at Stang Ranch: copperheads, knuckleheads, Dobbsheads - but no Gila Monsters. Horny Toads! Stang's DNA test. The World is ending - moon collapsing -- the underwater ocean and "Ark" and "Waterworld." Legume stopped hating. That's what people do. When the Internet came along - became TV. "A Boy and His Dog." All we talk about is monsters. Plastic lichen pollution, valium in the water, suicidal amoebas, living dead rotifers!! Science News: a new End of the World every five minutes. The One-Hoss Shay. It's hopeless! When Stang spent that $35. Sexism in the early Church. Those born rich can afford to be stupid. Stang's ignorance about all the new sexes and the special names for each.

We managed to get through this (probably) last truly live broadcast from WCSB without crying or even getting sappy like we did a couple of shows back. At first there's a new Liberty Tubes song, an amazing rock-n-roll mash-up by Dido (?), and ten minutes of a funny 2017 X-Day podcrust with Revs. Shoggoth, Peas and Eggplant. Then Dr. Sinister joins StangDoe and the Lonesome Cowboy for, after twenty years, one final bout of live jibber-jabber using WCSB's excellent microphones, headphones, and phone-caller audio. (Our home studio at Stang Ranch is a bit less professionally appointed.) There are some thank-yous, some reminiscing about the more freakish frequent WCSB callers, some secrets revealed, the usual sudden tangents into twisted versions of current events, science, and ancient history, killer clowns, momos, and some philosophizing from Stang regarding his recent indignities of aging and how they've slowed the final epic move of sacred SubGenius crap from Cleveland to the secure rural Texas compound (an hour from Waco! Heh!). The show ends with a recording of "SubGenius Lullaby" from Chas Smith's old ESO show on the station, which is probably a real tear-jerker for long-time listeners.

Part Two of of an Hour of Slack/Radio Synaesthesia combo from August 25, "2019." Host Dr. Sinister, Lonesome Cowboy Dave, Rev. Ivan Stang and Princess Wei 'R.' Doe talk and talk and talk with various callers. Because it's the penultimate WCSB show for Hour of Slack, there is some reminiscing of vast historical significance, and much detailed revelations about "Bob" Dobbs and his Word.
