Matthew 25 | "Least of These" Doesn't Mean What You Think It Does

Ever thought about the parables found in Matthew 25 - the ten virgins and the talents? Buckle up, as we take you on a spirited exploration of these parables, discussing their cultural context and significance. We'll look at how the original audience understood these parables and how they connect to the central theme of preparation and readiness for what is to come.

We're going to challenge some common misconceptions, especially around 'caring for the least'. It's time to move beyond the fear-based interpretations that seek to scare people into heaven. Instead, we'll focus on the importance of discipleship and living out love in tangible ways. We'll examine Jesus' teachings on judgement, emphasizing that His love covers all and encouraging readiness for the coming kingdom of God.

Wrapping up, we'll analyze the parables in a fresh light. We'll look at the role of the oil in the parable of the ten virgins and its significance in preparing for the future. We'll also unpack the parable of the talents and discuss the different rewards for the master's servants. This episode is your chance to see how these parables can apply to your life today, inspiring you to live with purpose and intentionality. So tune in, and let's discover God's plan together.

Son Rise Morning Show 09/13/2023: Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. on St. Vincent Pallotti and the Works of Mercy

In this segment from the Son Rise Morning Show on Sacred Heart Radio, Fr. Frank Donio, S.A.C. continues the series on the life and spirituality of St. Vincent Pallotti, the founder of the Pallottines and speaks about the charitable works of mercy that Pallotti emphasized in his lifetime and how all Catholics are called to engage in those works today.

St. Vincent Pallotti (1795-1850), a priest of the Diocese of Rome, founded in 1835 an association of lay people, religious, and clergy called the Union of Catholic Apostolate to assist the Church’s missionary work, revive the faith of Catholics, and engage in universal charity. From that association grew religious communities of men and women, including the Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Pallottine Fathers and Brothers). Pallotti believed that all are called to be apostles of Jesus Christ in the Church and in the world.
