#28 - Is Short Course Triathlon Dying?

#28 - Is Short Course Triathlon Dying?

In the wake of the T100 announcement, Alistair Brownlee has suggested that a smaller field size could make World Triathlon events more exciting.

This week we discuss the implications of limiting the World Triathlon Championship Series start list to 20. What this would mean for the racing, how World Triathlon could fix the broadcast and make following the sport easier and hopefully more exciting.

We also discuss if the age of the bike/runner is over in long distance triathlon and why so many T100 athletes keep talking about IronMan!

Agegroup Triathlete Mick Skivington Episode 88

Agegroup Triathlete Mick Skivington Episode 88

How long have you been doing triathlon?

In this episode we have the pleasure of chatting to Mick Skivington.  Mick is 67 and did his first triathlon 36, yes 36 years ago. After seeking out a triathlete he had heard of and going to watch him compete, Mick started training to compete himself in his first triathlon, even though he didn't feel ready.

His new found pal showed him how to swim and train to complete his first race.

36 years later with probably thousands of races of all distances and denominations, Mick is still training and racing today. He has had success along the way reaching several podium places representing GB in his agegroup.

This episode is packed with memories of what it was like back in the day when computers and carbon were not a thing.

    hope you enjoy it.

Episode 82 Featuring GB AG Triathlete Adrian Wilkins

Episode 82 Featuring GB AG Triathlete Adrian Wilkins

Adrian Wilkins has been representing GB agegroup for over a decade. with a background of playing rugby and cricket from a kid well into his forties he has always been a sporty guy.

Although Adrian states his story is not particularly exciting performance terms, which we don't agree with, he certainly didn't lack in life events, especially over the last few years.
He wanted to raise the awareness of hip replacements and the effects it has on life and especially sporting capabilities after the operation.

Adrian has had both hips replaced over the last few years and has made a full recovery, on top of that he has had a heart issue and turns out long covid.

So sit back, strap yourself in and enjoy a rollercoaster of a ride.
