We are trained and led to believe things such as supernatural signs and human wisdom are ideal to have in life.  Human wisdom has its place in life but what happens when it holds a superior position in how we value godly things? The Apostle Paul tackles this topic in 1 Corinthians 1 as we see how human wisdom and the desire for supernatural signs (i.e. physical evidence of spiritual intervention) can diminish the power of what God used to reconcile us to Him.  You ready for this Word? You ready to be changed and change from the inside to the outside?  Let's go fishing...

The Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. I. As a master teacher, Jesus repeated himself often. Don't be afraid to repeat yourself. II. Do be afraid of being a Pharisee or Sadducee. III. To put Jesus to the test, to demand he prove himself, is evidence of a hard heart that refuses to trust in him. IV. Jesus exposes them for their worldly wisdom but spiritual blindness. V. An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign. VI. The most significant proof of Christianity is the death and resurrection of Jesus. 

We take a few moments to look at the variance between the wisdom of this age (world) and the wisdom of God; as Paul states up front he intentionally preached without wisdom but wants The Spirit of God to impart wisdom through his preaching/teaching.

Luke 15:11    A study of how  believers can learn from the wisdom of unbelievers..

In this episode, James teaches us about wisdom.  There are 2 kinds of wisdom: wisdom from above and an unspiritual, earthly, demonic type of wisdom.  God's wisdom will guide us to live in ways that are peace-loving, considerate of others, submissive and open to reason, merciful, impartial, and sincere.

The wisdom of the world is unstable and unreliable, but the majority of people today, including many within the church put their trust in it.  A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways and the man who attempts to follow after Jesus Christ and trust in the wisdom of the world will live an unstable life. 
The wisdom of God is Jesus Christ Himself! This wisdom is a mystery to the world we live in.  This wisdom comes to us through the Holy Spirit as we walk in reverence with our Savior and Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
The wisdom of God is pure, peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy, and good fruits, unwavering and without hypocrisy! The wisdom of the world is earthly, natural, and demonic.
