Ep. 30 | Justin Wren | Defeat Hate With Love

Ep. 30 | Justin Wren | Defeat Hate With Love

Justin Wren is a heavy-weight mixed martial arts fighter, humanitarian, and all around incredible person.

Over a decade ago, the world got to know Justin through his successful career in the UFC – from starring in the Spike reality show “The Ultimate Fighter,” to becoming a dominating force in the heavyweight division, to his MMA record of 15-2. Today, the world knows Justin for the size of his heart and the amazing work he is doing in the world.

Following a six-year struggle with addiction and depression in his early career, Justin stepped away from MMA to seek out purpose and passion for his life. What he found was a forgotten tribe of Mbuti Pygmies deep in the jungles of the Congo, beaten down by economic enslavement, disease, and hopelessness.

Through his Fight For The Forgotten initiative, 1,500 members of this formerly enslaved people group are now free and flourishing on 3,000 acres of their own land with access to clean water and their own farms.

Today Fight For The Forgotten is working with a community of Batwa Pygmies in Uganda, supporting them with clean water, latrines, housing and agricultural tools and seed for farming, with the dream of them one day, in the not-too-far future, becoming self-sufficient, going from extinction to thriving.

Justin is an incredible story-teller, and has become a close friend of mine. His voice and his stories are exactly the kind that I want to be raising up on this podcast, and I am so excited to share this one with all of you.

ep. 118: Stacy Myers: Walking in Freedom

ep. 118: Stacy Myers: Walking in Freedom

Hi friend!  Last week it was great hearing Sarah Tucker share her story with us when she walked through getting a disease called Endocarditis which caused her to have open heart surgery 10 years ago.  She shares about God’s Faithfulness as her friends and family rallied around her during a really difficult time in her life.  You can go one episode back to hear it on episode 117

Today’s episode is with my friend, Stacy Myers from the Humorous Homemaking blog. I’ve followed Stacy for years on Instagram and we had we had the best time chatting!  We talk about failures and what to do with them, Stacy encourages us how to stop walking in fear of missing God’s will, and I love how packed full this episode is with resources and the truth we can point our heart toward God’s word. Stacy shares about her recent journey of walking in food freedom.  I love how open Stacy is and so let’s get to it!  Here is my conversation with Stacy!

ep. 115: Equipping You to Thrive at Home: Polly Conner & Rachel Tiemeyer

ep. 115: Equipping You to Thrive at Home: Polly Conner & Rachel Tiemeyer

Today’s episode is with my guests Polly Conner & Rachel Tiemeyer. They are the gals from the Thriving Home blog! If you have seen my Instagram Stories lately you have seen what I’ve been making for dinner and it’s been some recipes from their blog! Let’ me just say I tried three of their recipes and they are now in my monthly rotation that’s for sure!

On today’s episode you will hear a part of Polly and Rachel’s story. Their journeys of creating and sharing recipes began with two very different stories of their view about food. Rachel’s oldest child was 18 months old when they had to adjust their family eating habits because they found out he had Crohn’s disease and wanted healthy options for him. Polly walked through a weight loss journey that led her to whole food eating.

They have perfected fixing food for their families using whole food ingredients and no or fewer processed ones while being versatile for busy women! And all the mommas said AMEN!

ep. 113: Victoria Strader: Seeing God's Kindness in Our Story

ep. 113: Victoria Strader: Seeing God's Kindness in Our Story

Happy New Year! It has been a while since we’ve talked and I’m so excited to be back with you! The pausing I did over the month of December was much needed and so enjoyable to me! If you are needing to press pause in one way or two this January, I will link that 5 minute Monday Boost episode in the Show Notes for ya!

So many GREAT conversations I can’t wait for you to hear this year!! I’m planning a lot, so stick around! You are gonna love them!

----Anybody want to give me a last minute new years happy? I would love for you to click the stars to rate the podcast! A click on all 5 stars would be so great. And, if you want to go one step further to write a sentence or two to review the podcast, oh my goodness I would be so grateful for that!!!

On today’s episode you will hear Victoria’s story. You will hear my conversation with Victoria Strader, who was born in Paris, is a wife, mom to two, and a blogger. She’s been in the States ever since she learned to walk, and is Southern as Sweet Tea. She is now a Texan and loves all things Southern. At the beginning of our interview, I wasn’t sure how long Victoria had been living in the states and thought there may have been a slight chance, she still spoke with a British accent. HA.

Nevertheless, Victoria and I instantly connected in our conversation. I haven’t walked the road she is on, but when you know Jesus, He connects us all, doesn’t he? We talk about how Victoria’s son, Beau was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder.

What I think is so precious about Victoria is that she is navigating a hard road as a momma, but continues to have a heaven perspective on it reflecting on God’s kindness. She mentions that she keeps going back to the verse in Romans that we can know that God causes ALL things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

In this episode we talk about: Wonderful Wednesday, being a Special Needs Family, we camp out on the type of friend Victoria wants to be, how her friends met some tangible needs and stepped into uncomfortable places for her family in a small, yet huge way. We also talk about how Victoria needs your help in finding a recipe…listen to the end for that!

    And, a lil reminder….
